Do you iron pants?

Just read another thread where someone mentioned ironing pants. So how many people do this?

I don't iron anything apart from linen trousers or things for weddings/important meetings.

Why would anyone iron them? Once they are stretched out over one's backside the creases magically disappear. It's an irresponsible waste of electricity.

Cleaner irons DH's boxers though if I don't manage to put them away beforehand. And DS's football stuff. And I did have a cleaner who ironed swimwear. Although that was in Asia where ironing things is good to kill off any eggs that may have been laid in clothes that dried outside so maybe she had a reason!

I also don't iron teatowels but love it if the cleaner does! I deliberatly put them away but sometimes she gets there before me. The drawer looks so neat and tidy when they have been ironed!

no I don't generally iron pants, unless I have a bout of thrush - then I do, as suggested by the GP, in order to help kill it off!

I think in the old days ironing killed lice eggs in seams of clothes, so that's why it was much encouraged as basic routine, that's why we think we have to do it

sorry TMI, but nowadays it is not necessary unless you just LIKE ironing, and beautiful neat piles of underwear

Not here - but then I do know a woman who does (and she's only 31 so no excuse) - apparently her DH prefers his pants ironed.

The only thing that sprang to mind when I read the thread title was "why the fuck would you iron pants??"
