I'm dressed
dcs to school
delivered home tuition referral letter with attachments (but it would only be for one hour a week)
Now ds1 is looking in technology dictionary, and I have been trying to explain forging to him

I feel a bit ratty today, I think the pressure of looking after someone's happiness 24/7 is being to get to me...

He doesn't want to doss around all day, and NEEDS structured activities, but at the same time those activities do require quite a lot of supervision. I find it easy when I am doing things with him, but just difficult when I try to do anything ELSE ifysim.

Today we have two friends coming over after school, which is great, but now feel pressure of tidying house dealing with other kids etc

So moan over,
after activities, going to give him his violin whilst I do piano practice, and then put on a FILM for him to watch, so that I do some online Xmas shopping.

Simply · 02/12/2009 11:05

Hi leo and thanks for the thread.

swan Thanks for the reminder about eating healthily. It's good to know that you're still working at it as it inspires me to continue, also.

I need to write my Christmas present list. [help!] Dd has written her list. Ds hasn't written his. Okay. I'm dillydallying. Must go and do some stuff. Back later!

swanriver · 02/12/2009 11:32

Paid school dinners till Feb
Batch cooked bolognese for slow oven

Ds is now watching Home Alone after some work
tomorrow's backed up with appts/unavoidable commitments - visit to very sick friend who haven't seen for a year so don't really think I can be pathetic and say no.
Also found that school Xmas Fayre is on a Friday when dh WON'T be there, and I've put my name down to help aargh - next week so need to think of some way to get round problem; they want me to mull the wine and I had offered to do crafts too in a moment of madness

now need to do my piano practise or waste another lesson. I'm finding it very difficult to have me-time at moment, can't seem to concentrate for long enough without worrying about something or the other or being summoned...

Anything exciting on your present list Simply?

TeaMonster · 02/12/2009 11:56

Just book marking.

I took minimad swimming, first time since operation and stitch removal. I am a little sore , but dont mind as he enjoyed it!!

meltedchocolate · 02/12/2009 11:58

Hey, I'm a 'Flybaby' too.

I let it slip and forgot about HV coming over today. The place was a MESS!! Fortunatelly because i forgot and was still in my dressing gown she asked if i would like to rescheduale and left with out coming in! Phew

BiancaCastafiore · 02/12/2009 12:34

Hello all

I am at home today doing my regular Wednesday frantic clear-up. It seems worse than usual today - partly because I have really let things go downhill this last week or two (too much work) and also because I am trying to put everything back in the bathroom and sort the debris left in the spare room.

Why can't I just be the orderly tidy mum I want to be? I try hard, it just never seems to work!

We are seriously considering losing our spare room (and getting a sofa bed) by swapping everyone's bedrooms around and making the smallest bedroom an office for dh. This way we won't have a convenient room to dump stuff in. It'll mean a lot of work but I think it'll be worth it really. We only have over-night visitors for a occasional night or two 8/10 times a year.

I have just gathered all the Christmas bits bought so far and I think we're just about done on the stockings for the kids - just the main presents to get (they want a Wii....we're thinking about it...) Not a lot done by way of family presents though...need to have a good browse online for things.

Simply · 02/12/2009 12:35

meltedchocolate I can relate to that type of situation!

TM Well done on the swimming with minimad.

swan Dd has asked for fairy lights, some make up, an i tunes voucher and a camera. It'll be something IT or music related for ds probably. We'll see once he has written his list. At the moment he is doing mock GCSEs and has another week and a half to go. then he'll have lots of music peformances in the run up to Christmas with carolling, concerts etc. Anyway... dh probably won't want anything so will get some nice tea and nice chocolate I expect. There's nothing I want or need, I don't think. Oh, dd would like us to buy a Wii for the whole family. That's a maybe.

I'm feeling tired today as I had lots (it seemed) of nightmares last night. I told dh it was time to get up at one point as it obviously was time in my dream. He groaned in response so I checked the time. A quarter to midnight! Oooops!

scattyspice · 02/12/2009 12:47

LOL simply. You must have a lot on your mind.

Everyone seems a bit frazzled today. Its that time of year I guess (everything speeds up). Remember, you can only do/think about one thing at a time.

List:
download photos
find dds yellow book and take to gp
finish knitting mums hat to take down to grandmas.
Beavers

My list is getting shorter .

Style question : What shall I wear to Grandmas 100th birthday party on Sat? I will be mixing it with lots of family I haven't seen for a long time (including glamorous child free sis and cousins) and it is a very special occasion, but it is in a Nursing Home (very hot) at 2pm. I was going to wear denim skirt, boots and sleeveless cardi over nice top, but DD is wearing that .

BBL

swanriver · 02/12/2009 12:57

Scatty - I think you should wear something very bright and eyecatching for Grandma and something sparkly - red dress perhaps, not something too decorous or genteel or shabby chic.
Simply - I had a strange dream/nightmare last night that I'd had triplets but they were kittens for some reason wasn't at all surprised they were furry
MeltedChoc - tis good for healthvistors to see what it's really like
Bianca - study definitely -
nice to see you back

OverflowingFestiveMum · 02/12/2009 13:06

afternoon all

plans thrown to the wind last night by finger trapped in door incident
Poor DD3 had her finger in the hinge of the kitchen door as ds1 shut it......
LOTS of screaming....blood everwhere...it looked really bad so she was despatched to A&E with dh and lovely dd1 who cuddled her in theback of the car whilst dh drove...I had to stay to mind the rest of them...
Anyway, luckily finger was not broken...had it steri-stripped and bandaged and put in sling.
Poor little thing was very brave. Is at home now watching Christmas DVD's!
Told by A&E to take her to practice nurse on Friday for dressing change...rang practice to be told that she couldnt have it done there as they didnt keep dressings there so would have to take her back to A&E..how ridiculous is that????Very sick of rubbish useless Gp practice now...Have spent morning trying to find new GP...on possibility to investigate tomorrow...

Right, rant over...
Just feeling washed out, overwhelmed and fed up now...need to try and snap out of it....
Money stresses still looming large...
Meant to be going on hen night at wk/end, but just cant afford it (meal then pub) and feeling so physically rotten still....will have to make my excuses which I feel bad about....
Actually just want to hide under my duvet till Spring...sigh...

Off for another cuppa....BBL

swanriver · 02/12/2009 13:11

I agree, OFM, I either want to make my getaway in a Xmashamper, find a noncatpee duvet tohide under, or even better sail (bymself)into the middle of some lovely Irish lake with a flask o f hot tea and get stuck in the reeds.

A&E total sympathy

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 02/12/2009 14:13

Did I not post yesterday? I thought I had

OFCM kids and A&E are not good. Many sympathies

Called on the services of FIL this AM He gave me a lift to take our new moggy to the vets for her op. I was organising the logistics of sorting that out and getting childcare for DS while I have a Govenors meeting. Seems by thhe end of it all FIL was going to be spayed and microchipped while the cat was going to the meeting

Well DS at school, I've been wrapping pressies. I got the last ones todayBoris is growling so I'm having some lunch then I'll do some room rescue and take DS to his swimming lesson

TTFN

BiancaCastafiore · 02/12/2009 14:48

Oh dear OFM, I hope dds hand isn't too sore. Most annoyed about the practice nurse sending you back to A&E for dressing change - why on earth can't they do that at the practice?

Simply had to chuckle at you waking your dh up in the middle of the night!

I have wasted the afternoon pottering from room to room without actually doing anything much at all. I did find the Lego advent calender I bought months ago though so the dcs will be pleased with that when they get home.

Speaking of the dcs, it's almost 3, I'd better go and collect them!

swanriver · 02/12/2009 15:08

What a disastrous afternoon I am having
It is pourring with rain here,
tried to take car to piano lesson
Lost ds1's shoe and nintendo charger before setting off
ditto parking voucher
ditto ability to park outside piano lesson in small space in driving rain
ditto marbles - burst into tears on doorstep of teacher as arrived 15ms late and unable get ds from car to her door
gave up and went home think she was a bit taken aback

ah well, give me an emergency any day
now feel a bit better for tears and your poor FIL Grouchy

scattyspice · 02/12/2009 16:02

Oh no swan - sometimes its all too much!

You too OFM - GP doesn't sound much use!

Swan - agree with you idea (though bright colours make me look ill!). I wizzed into Asda in between work and school and bought grey knitted dress (in 5 mins flat). Unfortunately dress is more of a tunic, poor Uncle Malcolm will have a stroke if I wear that with tights LOL. Plan to wear with black skinny trousers and silver statement necklace (to add glitz). Now need to buy statement necklace .

DD wants toast.

Ruby

Hi grouchy. I hope Boris behaves himself.

swan Sorry to hear of your afternoon. Sometimes things seem intent on going wrong.

I've had a doughnut just now. It is ds' fault as he asked for me to get them when I went shopping this mroning. I spent my afternoon at the cinema watching The Time Traveller's Wife. I tried not to cry too often and got off to a good start by being miffed about how different to the book it was but the odd tear escaped about a dozen times during the course of the film.
Oh, yes. You forgot to mention the hip flask when you mentioned the flask of tea. My dog would like to join you on the boats. She loves anything that goes on the sea or water.

BC Are you coming towards my neck of the woods anytime soon?

Overflowing Sorry to hear about dd3's finger. Poor thing.

Well, must dash to make tea. Back later.

OverflowingFestiveMum · 02/12/2009 19:57

evening all
swan sounds a bad afternoon.Having an older dc at homefull time can be very demanding. You are coping with so much at the -moment, DS physical recovery, education, mental and emotional well being, not to mention all you already deal with (home,Dts,Dh,schools etc..)and it soundslike you are doinga wonderful job!Be gentle on yourself...when we were home edding sometimes when it all got too much we would abandon all hope of anything constructive for the day and have a DVD day with pop-corn!! Gave us all a chance to recharge and me a chance to catch up etc...
Anyway...tomorrow is another day...

ruby sounds like a typical evening in our house...Hope the new tick chart helps...

well mad evening here as always....

DD4 seems unwell again ...sort of lingering cough and intermittent earache...seesm to get better for a few days then regress again...
DD3 managed to soak her bandage whilst teeth brushing...que emergency trip to shop for fresh bandage and redressing finger....DD3 suddenly really impressed and proclaimed "oh, you really are a doctor mommy" LOL LOL (she hadnt believed me when I told her I used to be a doctor when we were chatting a while ago!) So, medical degree useful for something...though never actually did bandage anything, but dont tell dd LOL

Dh at parents eve for ds1.... so single handed bedtime again...

extremely exhausted....definitely early night needed...

TM you OK today ? Hope you've had a good day

scatty dress sounds nice and yes..you can only deal with one thing at a time..how wise...and yes it is that time of year again...

simply cinema sounds nice...

BB tomorow

We've had a very busy afternoon, and evening.

Done
playdate here for ds1 [they read Beano together]
meltdown over ds2's part in Beaver Nativity, he insisted that Angel Gabriel had to address little Drummer Boy personally

Dts to Beavers and Brownies
Me to help supervise Beavers' Nativity rehearsal (thgd no dodgeball) New lines found for ds2 - he pulled himself together.
Dts in excellent mood afterwards though extremely bouncy
V. late bedtimes, aided by cola drink at Brownies

OFM - thanks for your kind words.
Simply/Starbear - today no snacks - but I did have three helpings of bolognese just now, and a large piece of goat's cheese/plain bagel at lunchtime

Also tidied dd's room after playdate, and tidied up ds2's drawers as they were dropping off.

swanriver · 02/12/2009 22:01

children, not the drawers
