Steam Iron recommendations please

I know it's really boring, but the cord on my iron is wearing through and I don't suppose it's possible to replace the cord these days so I think I need a new one.

At present I've got a Philips Elance 3020 which is a fairly basic steam iron which has a self cleaning/descaling function.

I've just looked and am bemused by the enormous selection - what shall I buy?

I'm no ironing expert but use

it does glide! if you get it from argos and you don't like it just take it back before 14 days.

Ta muchly Furball. I'm not an expert either! I do about 2 hours on a Monday evening and THAT'S IT. If there's anything else that needs doing it has to wait!

I bought a mega expensive one (£70 ish) from John Lewis which lasted 2.5 years. As ever, the guarantee had expired.

Recently bought a 9.99 Asda own brand one and it does exactly the same job as the ripoff one.
