How exciting simply do tell! What did you wear? Did you have a good time? Who got up to what?

Big list today (but expect to carry planty over):

Floors
dusting
laundry
empty recycling
cull mags
clean bathroom
download photos
order snowman tickets
find dds yellow book and take to gp
make cards for grandma
finish knitting mums hat to take down to grandmas.

Also ds has friend to play after school.

Have a good day all.

Hi scatty and thanks for the thread.

I was very limited as to outfit as I was travelling and needing to carry my overnight luggage and handbag/shopping bag. So... I popped into a Next and bought myself a new pair of jeans (we don't have Next where I live) and I wore those with a pair of boring black small heeled leather boots (to keep my feet dry as it was raining and we needed to walk from the hotel to the first pub and then on to the second pub) and a white camisole top with a white M&S blouse over it. The leg pulling can be found on the MN meet up thread here. I stuck to either beer or orange juice and lemonade and was pretty boring well behaved throughout! It was fab to meet custardo. She looks FAR too young to have a child aged 20 and dd agreed with me when she saw the pictures. She's ever so nice. Mamazon is a real character and did an excellent job of organising and made everyone welcome as did salstrawberry and I'd be delighted to have so many people there as RL friends, they were so warm and friendly and funny!

I'm allowing myself a quiet day as it took from about 7.45am to 4pm to get from home to the hotel on Sat and from 1pm to nearly 9pm to get from Victoria coach station to home yesterday, so I've had two long days of travelling. Back later!

swanriver · 30/11/2009 09:17

Thanks for thread Scattty.
I feel bad not to have been there to meet you Simply, but it was dd's Concert on Sat night. It feels strange to think of you travelling so far just to be "here" (well it is at least an hour in the other direction from EC so not quite here)
Did you see any London sights apart from the Mnset ones?

Hideous horrible weather in London.
2 Dcs to school already
laundry on
now to get ds1 downstairs
b when done something constructive

swanriver · 30/11/2009 10:11

ds is dressed, leg exercises, practise on crutches (he finds it very difficult)
he has done piano practice
and about 5 minutes of BBCwebsite touchtyping
I have wiped some worktops,
weighed myself hopefully
now I want to do Literacy with him and then a journey to the dreaded dump

Starbear · 30/11/2009 10:50

Simply I'm that you went to the meet-up. How many people were there?
Wendy What sad news. That's why you need to grab life. How is your Ds coping with the news?
I'm not in the best spirits today for a variety of reasons that are to boring to list. I'm going get the house ship shape to take my mind off it all.
See you all in a mo with a list.

BiancaCastafiore · 30/11/2009 11:04

Wow, simply, it sounds as though you had a great time

I have another unexpected day off work today as I have to take poor ds back to the consultant after physio has made no improvement to the movement of his arm at all (for those who don't know - he broke his arm badly at the elbow in Aug) I am very worried as the physio says there's something more solid than muscle stopping it from bending...not sure what the docs will say today

To take my mind off it all I am baking a good old lemon drizzle cake!

Agh - just had almost an hour long power cut since I started this post. My LDC has sunk in the middle - I wonder if it'll revive itself now I can continue cooking it?

I have managed to do some general tidying up but not a whole lot more. FiL is still here tiling the bathroom so chaos rules.

I might have a quick go at the mission before I head to the hospital

BiancaCastafiore · 30/11/2009 11:04

swan I never did find out; what happened to your ds?

Starbear · 30/11/2009 11:06

long diagonal fracture of left femur, now plated with 9 screws. Can't go back to school till he's off crutches (end of Jan probably) but that's the least of our worries really - I just want his leg to mend.
He fell off a bike whilst messing around with his cousins at halfterm because his wrist was weak from a previous break in August (trampolining with same cousins)

We had a problem with his wrist too in Sept as it set wrong with a big buildup of excess bone, but consultant said that in young children USE might sort out the wrist problem although technically x-ray on badly healed wrist demanded he should have operated. Now that particular issue seems far less important than not being able to walk properly
He HAS got almost full use of his wrist again, as the consultant said, despite it looking so iffy on the Sept x-ray, as apparently children's bones do magical things when they heal.

So I know what a nightmre it all is - sympathy. Sometimes it feels like one is running on empty - there almost isn't time to worry because you just have to get THEM through it - but then the stress to you will come out at some point and hit hard.

Good luck with consultant/doctor.

swanriver · 30/11/2009 11:42

o - that was a message to Bianca!
lots of x-posting

Star you have done loads.
We are on a hill luckily. Our high street is regularily flooded by an unromantic drain.
Party any good on Sat? Three party invites so far, tempted to say no to all and boring person here]

TeaMonster · 30/11/2009 11:54

scattyspice · 30/11/2009 12:41

Sorry you're not feeling well Tea.

Bianca - Poor ds. How much bend has he lost? How long since fracture?

Swan - poor ds too. Does he have wooden axillary crutches or metal elbow crutches?

simply - sounds like a good night. I will peruse the official thread later . Your outfit sounds good (I'm a jeans and top girl too). I'd love to meet Custardo, she sounds so sorted.

Leo, Star - hi.

Hi Grouchy Is Mr Grouchy going to be a flyman?
TM You are going through the mill. Hope we can cheer you up.
Swan Very good party. Best bit was my sgt's wife wore the same dress as last year too. She was so happy that I did the same. She is lovely. IT also cheered Mr Bear up too. Only downside is crappy hairdresser cut my hair into a odd shape and it went very flat during the night. Going to save money by growing my hair long and won't be going back to him. I might put my hair in rollers on Friday can't do any worse than the hairdresser.

Afternoon all

Had a great weekend with DH and DD's birthday yesterday but then sickness bug took hold yesterday evening with both me and DD unwell and today DH is joining in. We had a day off to do some lovely things together but instead we are spending the day in bed/on settee and intermittently playing with DDs new toys from yesterday.

Sounds like meet up was fantastic simply. Hello to everyone else off to watch a DVD with DD

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 30/11/2009 14:47

Star. Mr G is fab at catering, just the cleaning up and laundry and cats he's a bit poo at

I've been finishing the Xmas shopping. eBay solves everything!

wendyhappysmile · 30/11/2009 16:14

Hello everyone
had a really nice day today. Played with DD and made tonight's tea this morning. Then went to my mum's and dropped DD off, did a bit of shopping and met a friend for a child free lunch! (not that we eat children )
Home to general tantrums - slippers I'd bought for DC didn't fit - tantrum. School website password didn't work - tantrum. Called DD's bear silly - tantrum. Oh dear
Otherwise am feeling generally very sunny despite our sad news, or perhaps, in a strange way, because of it, grabbing life and all that
star it was a childhood friend of DH's who has died of cancer, not a friend of DS's. DS and DD don't know her very well so we haven't had to explain to them.
grouchy hope you are ok
tea sorry to hear you're not well either
simply meetup sounds good
leo i still have some stuff unpacked from April!
scatty thanks for thread, hope list going well!
swan how was the weigh in? I daren't!

need to sort out the kitchen cupboards to find space for stuff in boxes

swanriver · 30/11/2009 16:30

Wendy, it IS a relief just writing the tantrums down somehow that's them done and dusted for the day...

We've had a good day too in our pootley way
hall is mopped, grownup sheets changed, some hoovering, bought some tinned fruit/pineapple rings etc (rapidly regressing to 50's here)for storecupboard
Ds did literacy, spelling, piano and violin today and stayed in a sunny mood
Deflea-ed cat and washed its bedding

Weigh-in bit of stalemate, the scales glared at me as if to say, "you lost your kilo what more do you want from me, you nagging woman"
So it's working but it IS slow progress [yawn]

BiancaCastafiore · 30/11/2009 16:36

Swan, what a horrible time for you and your ds. I am so stressed today and just want this whole broken arm business to be over with, I ended up spending most of the morning sobbing in the kitchen which is just silly. We too had a previous break to contend with; ds broke his other arm at Easter (and perhaps this weakness led him to fall harder onto his left arm this time) We have now been booked for a CT scan later in the week and will have to see what that shows. The concern is that the amount of bend-ability he has will be the maximum he'll ever get which isn't really v good. The scan will show if there's cause for concern or whether he just needs more time for everything to get used to working again.

FiL has been working hard in the bathroom but I don't like the result

I think I'm just having a down day. Back to work tomorrow, maybe that'll snap me out of it.

I need to feed the kids now but can't get motivated to make anything It may just be microwaved jacket potatoes all round...

swanriver · 30/11/2009 17:29

oh dear, Bianca - it is such slow progress isn't it just waiting from appt to next, not surprised you are wrung out.
What has FIL done to bathroom - perhaps better not to ask..
I have made red lentil lasagne for supper. Not quite sure what it will taste like as it has no cheese sauce (run out of milk) but combined various ingredients recklessly.
