do you just empty the contents into the wheely bin? I do and I've noticed there is a thick covering of vac crap at the bottom of my bin that doesn't shift when it's emptied.

Is there some secret other way to do this?

I empty it into an old carrier bag.

yes i just emptied straight into wheely when I had hateful dyson. I do powerwash my wheelie once a month in the winter and once a fortnight on the summer though
