Morning all

Assessment didn't go too well yesterday, think I messed up the end and I don't find out for 8 weeks so I went to burn off some frustration at the gym in the evening so I'm feeling a little better today.

Lots of little jobs to do today.

Washing x3 loads
School this afternoon
DD lunch and then to nursery
Shopping on way home
assignment this evening
wrap dd's birthday presents for Sunday (been trying to do all week but they are hiding in DHs car and he keeps forgetting to bring them in)
Tidy up DDs bedroom floor
Contact college re Spanish course
Contact Council re school volunteering

Better get on - Hello to everyone and hope you are all well.

swanriver · 26/11/2009 11:19

Leo, thanks for sorting out mission
MC, assessment good vibes

rung Council re Home tuition (apparently would be one hour every week only) more hoops to jump through, paperwork to be filled, photocopies in etc etc - that it what panicks me a thousand timesmore than educating ds - I hate ringing people up - though I like it when they ring me

Tidied dd's room and put away clothes
Wool wash in
cooker cleaned
now dealing kitchen again aargh nearly there
ds has moved to ds2's room and happily munching his way through ds2's bookcase of film annuals - need to get him downstairs, but he said he wanted to rest..

Diet going well, though perpetually bored and hungry on it...think I've lost Ilb already after 5 days, avoided numerous cakes, crunchies, pieces of cheese, bowls of cereal, eclairs...

swan Hello and thanks for the thread. Ds and dd like the doughnuts they sell in the supermarket. The only trouble is that they are sold in packs of 6 so the other day I took an unopened pack next door to ds' friend and gave him 2. The last time and the time before I ate at least one from the pack but now the problem has been solved!

leo I can see that you're playing Connect 4 with your posts!

Makingchanges I hope you get the result you need when you hear in 8 weeks time.

Overflowing I'm glad I make you laugh!

I've done a few jobs and am going to go and do some more. Back later!

scattyspice · 26/11/2009 12:42

Morning .

Good work with the diets ladies . I have managed to stay off the wine but it has been easy as: 1. had cold related headache all week 2. it is not the weekend and 3. we have no wine! (a bit like you with the donouts simply). Tomorrow will be the big test of my mettle (oh dear).

After all my soul searching yesterday about DD (I really appreciated all your insights, I have things much more in perspective now)she was hard as nails when I took her for MMR jabs last night. The nurse got a withering look but that was it LOL (perhaps I'm the needy one ).

Today:
Back to work (sigh).
no after school activities (yeah)
laundry

afternoon all

have done well this morning
downsatirs now looking reasonable

swan DD's were signing in The Young Voices concert...great fun for them. In huge arena in front of thousands of people...loads of schools involved and lots of great young performers...a great night
Well done on diet

simply well done on donughts

mc assessment mey havebeenbetter than you thought...hard to judge sometimes.fingers crossed...

leo sounding very positive today

I am now indulging my inner proud mummy by watching DVD(found when tidying out dvdcupboard this morning) of school Easter performance which DD1 and DS1 were in...have just shed a tear listening to ds1 solo...bless him...which reminds me hehasbeenasked to sing a solo at Christmas Midnight Mass...need to sort that out...

right, 5 more mins then will get on...honest!

TM how are you today?

OverflowingFestiveMum · 26/11/2009 12:47

scatty X post.well done brave dd

swanriver · 26/11/2009 13:22

Done
Literacy
Cleaning [a bit]
lunch
now need to pump up flat tyre on wheelchair and off to physio/long walk

OFM - very jealous of ds1's solo. Ds2 was in tears last night because he didn'thave a speaking part in Beavers Nativity - admin oversight. Poor Leader had to make two new lines just for him He was the little Drummer Boy.

makingchanges sending you very good vibes for the assessment
swan the amount of paperwork sounds shocking
simply well done for staying away from the doughnuts
scatty step away from the wine and not one will get hurt (send it to me instead) I will give it a good home in the name of friendship
overflowing woke up feeling really pissed off but am determined to be positive. DHs ridiculous work hours are getting to me yesterday he came home at 3.45am (i woke up in a cold sweat having dreamt he was having an affair)

Anyway today have taken my mind off of things by blitzing the house but we are having humous sandwiches and salad for dinner because I ran out of steam. Atleast the kids had a warm lunch so I feel a bit better.

Simply · 26/11/2009 16:00

Hello again everyone.

I'm just having a cup of tea and a sit down. I did think I might go swimming this afternoon but my friend rang and time went on. I might go later this evening, though. My friend and I are meeting up in town for coffee tomorrow which will be nice.

I was very tempted earlier to dye my hair but it's one of those kits where you have to do a sensitivity and strand test 48 hours before. As I have to look presentable for a lunch next week, I'd better not fiddle with my hair! Okay, my cup is empty so I'm going to do some hoovering. Back later!

swan Is your wheelchair flat tyre a recurring problem or was it just that it fell off the chair last time? I seem to recall something. I'm pleased the Beaver leader created some speaking lines for your ds2. You've got me going "Dum da da dum" all the time in my head, though!

swanriver · 26/11/2009 16:13

Have done following positive things

Confirmation attendance organised: arranged babysitter for Friday afternoon for an hour 3/4[ds has strict instructions to sit on sofa and do NOTHING] till dh can get home
Finally cornererd ds1 mysterious school violin teacher in a portacabin, meeting him for first time ever cut through bureaucracy and arranged individual lessons for him on school premises [hurrah] - don't think he wants anything to do with parents usually...wonder why
Gone to physio with flat tyre, found missing crutch too.

Nowkids are watching telly, and more tidying to do.

I have been re-reading Mr Rochester pretending to be Gypsy bit in Jane Eyre Wendy, to completely sidetrack, forgotten how brilliant that book is and full of spookiness.

Simply, new problem, new wheelchair needed. This one is doomed. He is just started on crutches though. I have three bicycle pumps, and an adjustable one (which couldn't be applied due to angle) none worked on the borrowed wheelchair. Need to ring RED CROSS as Scatty suggested a week ago

Very organised anyway of you to book tickets at all.
I have given up all attempts at plans - something always happens to scupper them

Hey, quiet on here today.
swan Jane Eyre very very fabulous book I agree. Well done on diet. I have managed to lose 1lb this week too, somehow. Not today, though - cheese on toast for lunch and cheese on pasta for tea!
scatty LOL at you and the wine and Yay! to DD on surviving MMR so heroically.
OFM how's things with DH?
leo sounds like blitzing house is a good idea to cleanse the soul, then!
Simply more pearls of wisdom today from you, you are brilliant!

I am ok, a bit reflective today on me and my life, but that is A Good Thing.
Going in the bath, and another early night, after Gav and Stace.
BB tomorrow

scattyspice · 26/11/2009 20:15

Oh yeah Gavin and Stacy's on . Thanks for reminding me.

Have been watching Lauren Luke on youtube doing makeup (she's the Geordie single mum who beame a youtube sensation by doing make up videos in her bedroom, she now has a column in the Guardian and a slot on This Morning). I am looking for party make up tips . Teamonster - it gave me an idea, you could do kids craft videos!

BB tomorrow.

TeaMonster · 26/11/2009 20:22

Hello still hanging on just. Raided the lasy of the boys money to buy food, will replace it at some point in life .

Pissed off at school, sent home letter about Santa at the fair, but told the children about it and that if they didnt get it sorted fast he wouldnt be able to see them. Emotional blackmail- £3 each for a photo!!!! Lucky it doesnt need to be paid for till next week (after payday)!!

Ruby have e-mailed you via Facebook dearest

Simply · 26/11/2009 21:08

Hello again everyone. I fear I may be remembered by some as "the one with the tip about sharing out doughnuts". It's only slightly less bad than being remembered as "the one who gets rid of dust on the computer desk by blowing hard".

TM Silly story from me. I was trying to explain to dd that not all parents have 6 figure joint household incomes like one of her friends and that they should limit how much they spend on b/d gifts for each other so that everyone could afford to get the same type of present. I asked about one particular friend whose family are not as well off. "What does x's Dad do?" I asked, knowing the Mum is a sahm. "He works in the Council" she said. "Is he high up in the Council?" I asked. "I dunno, but his office is in the basement" she said with a 'trying to be helpful' look on her face! Maybe you just had to be there, but I found it hilarious, though I kept a straight face so that she didn't feel foolish when she realised what I'd meant.

swan Glad to hear you're having a new wheelchair. Btw, if that is your son trying to write rude messages then typing "hellllooooooooo" suggests he's got some way to go yet before he's successful!

I was sopping wet again earlier whilst walking the dog and my theory that if it's raining inland then it's unlikely to be also raining on the prom was wrong. In fact, I'm going to try to rename myself SimplyIsBaldrick'sLongLostTwin if I can fit it in! Nos da. Good night. See you tomorrow!
