Dh put a tencel and wool jumper in a 60 degree wash, and now its tiny and the knit is like felt... is there anything I can do?

No. Sorry. It's done for.

nope - once wool has been felted there is no way back - sorry

Damn.... never mind. Thanks for that. A good excuse for me to go shopping again. Funnily enough the jumper is a maternity one, and I actually think it'll fit me once I'm no longer pg (in about 5 weeks hopefully!)

SOmething that might work a bit is the enzyme tablets you get for cleaning protein deposits off contact lenses (the enzymes loosen the wool, different enzymes to those in washing powder I guess), I have had some success (not total) in the past, and not sure how much they cost, but might be worth a try if you really love the jumper, ask in the chemist for them. A dishwasher tablet might do the trick too, but I've never tried that.

Oh that's interesting MrsDinky. I will give that a try. Do you mean the tablets you used to add to saline solution in your lens case? I seem to remember using something similar years ago before the days of all in one cleaning solutions for lenses!

you could make a wool nappy wrap out of it

HeadFairy · 23/11/2009 20:38

Blimey, that sounds a bit too organised for me Fanjolina, I was chucked out of sewing class at school for being utterly hopeless!

That's the ones. If you can still get them, I've been using all in one solutions for my lenses for years now. One tablet in a bucket of water (not too hot, anything above 40C will kill the enzymes). I'd be interested to know how you get on if you try it.
