How can I clean my oven door glass?

I can't see inside my oven anymore, it's disgusting, but nothing seems to shift the brown dribbly marks all over the inside. What can I use that will get rid of them?

will check... thanks

Moosy · 25/11/2009 15:25

Eviltwins, Furball and piscesmoon, thank you! I got the lakeland oven mate today and left it on for about 2 hours and most of it's come off Just giving it a second go now to get rid of the tougher bits, but I can see through it again, woohoo!

Bought some Astonish for the shelves too, I do love Lakeland

Don't forget the paint scraper for the bits that really won't shift!

Moosy · 25/11/2009 16:52

I've used it to clean the little cover for the light too and replaced the bulb, my oven loves me now

Furball · 25/11/2009 17:51

agedknees · 25/11/2009 22:44

Cif cream and wire wool. Works wonders.

Fizzylemonade · 26/11/2009 21:18

Ah, I do like a happy ending that involves Lakeland. I used to live in a town where they had a store, loved browsing.

Now I have to order it but I do enjoy getting the parcel

mark16 · 11/11/2014 01:40

I had to use a Stihl saw with diamond tipped blade on mine lol. Seriously though, i haven't found one product that gets this baked on grease off. By the way, my oven is only 2 months old and has been cleaned a few times.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 11/11/2014 10:36

Check poundland for astonish. I get mine from there for oven cleaning.

FriedSprout · 11/11/2014 10:40

Someone on mn recommended using a dampened dishwasher tablet and rubbing it over the glass. Because I am very sheeplike I tried it and it bloody worked!

Jux · 11/11/2014 18:53

Ooooh I felt like I'd got a new oven when I did mine with Oven Pride. I didn't do the inside of the door as dh said he'd do it, but he's never bothered before and it's now been a couple of months.....

I think I need to go to Lakeland Wink and I know I'll end up buying something else that I don't need like a Parkin tray

spiderbabymum · 11/11/2014 21:11

Ok the ONLY thing that worded for me ....NAD worked like magic ......but needed a lot of effort was rubbing with a dampened dishwasher tab .....the BEST tip ever on mumsnet

nothappymummy2014 · 21/12/2014 10:58

I think my glass oven door is beyond repair - lots of baked on brown stuff which I can't get off. Tried the baking powder idea earlier and it didn't help at all. The rest of the oven has been cleaned with Oven Pride so is looking good.

Any ideas for a very dirty glass door?!

southeastastra · 21/12/2014 11:06

cheapo astonish oven cleaner from savers. it's incredibly effective used this week would def recommend. no waiting around for it to work like other sprays

southeastastra · 21/12/2014 11:13

the astonish paste is great for burnt black stainless steel. it's great and only a quid. prob same as overpriced Lakeland stuff

southeastastra · 21/12/2014 11:14

PS. I do not work for astonish Grin

Fingeronthebutton · 21/12/2014 11:47

There is an easier way. Just wipe the door every time you use it. Just saying.

Mitzi50 · 21/12/2014 11:51

I did mine yesterday (it was vile Blush with one of those bladec scrapers you use to remove paint from windows then finished off with some Mr Muscle kitchen cleaner - it is now sparkling

Powerlock · 28/05/2016 15:36

My oven door folds down and I was able to slide the inner glass panel out and reverse it back in with the greasey side now pointing up.
After soaking the glass with Fairy Liquid for 10 minutes and scrubbing with a scourer nothing happened. I then took steel wool to the glass and with some elbow grease it came off fairly easily and left the glass looking good.

AshMoff · 11/07/2016 18:50

I know this is a really old thread but I just had to share what I found about cleaning the glass of my oven door! I tried lots of different methods, from bicarbonate of soda to cillit bang and even fairy power spray not a single one made a dent in our oven! It was disgusting... Couldn't see through the door lots of baked on grease etc. I was about to give up hope when I found a Finish dishwasher tablet lying at the bottom of the cupboard, I didn't think it would make any difference but was losing all hope... It really worked! I wet the glass and I started rubbing the tablet on it, took about 20mins of scrubbing but my oven door is now gleaming (it might not take as long for you but I'm 8 months pregnant so had to take it a bit easier)!

OliviaShoo · 11/07/2016 18:53

magic sponge thing that gets crayon off the wall!

SirChenjin · 11/07/2016 18:55

I second Spider's suggestion. Forget all the other suggestions, all you need is a wet dishwasher tab - rub it over the burnt bits (you might need to go over then a few times), wipe with a damp cloth et voila! I got this tip on MN and was v sceptical - but it really does work

SirChenjin · 11/07/2016 18:56

Spider and Ash's

elQuintoConyo · 11/07/2016 19:10

I'm quite sure OP would have bought a new oven by now Grin

But, dishwasher tablet works wonders. We use cheapy supermarket own-brand. Über-super-mega stingy us!
