Have you got a chuck key (looks like the letter T) that fits into a hole in the side of clamp that holds the drill bit in place?

If it is a keyless chuck, you will have to turn the very front part the other way from the next part, think wring a chooks neck!

If it is a key chuck you will need a little tool, often pushed through a holder in the handle part of the drill. there will be a hole and an exposed toothed area. place the key chuck into the hole and turn it's handle.

If you are a bit of a geezer, like me, you undo that bit by changing the direction of the drill and holding the front in one hand and with the other hand you press the trigger and make the drill do the turning.

fear i may be geezer-like - am wearing ripped jeans with a builders bum
