How do I get rid of the smell of sick? Hot tips please!

We have all had a tummy bug this week and my DC have both been sick on the carpet. I have rinsed it and used cleaner but still can smell sick.

Any tips to get rid of the smell? Thanks.

Sprinkle liberally with bicarbonate of soda,brush it in a bit if you can. Leave for an hour or so and then hoover up the powder.

hot water and biological washing liquid. Scrub it in and blot it off with an old towel.

Thanks everyone. I have been using biological washing powder and it is reducing the smell. Once this is thoroughly dried I will try the bicarb. Hopefully that should get rid of the smell.
