NOW I tumble dry, fold and STRAIGHT AWAY put clothes in each persons drawer. Then they put away. My stress levels have gorn down at least 80%.

I'm I want a utility room and wire baskets.

Oh I love it, I am actually sleeping better at night because of it

i have a much better system, it goes a bit like this:

wash clothes, hang on airer, throw on sofa. pick through it to find sutiable attire each day

That makes me twitch just thinking about it

Dh hung up one of those laundry airer things that has a pulley system so we are all laundried up chez cybil.

(He did make several small holes in the ceiling trying to locate the joists but thats by the by)

actually, it makes me twitch thinking about it. in fact, it's quite a crap system overall.

still, if i badger do enough about having an extension then i xcan have a utility room and wire baskets!!!
then all i will need is a nanny to look after the kids and i'll be away :-D

And a hunky gardener who takes his shirt off

lol,. i meant i have the airer, not the hunky gardener. sadly.

Now, I'm very good at putting everything neatly into the basket, but I seem to have an adversion to doing anything else with it. The basket gets moved around until I need it again then I dump all the clothes onto my bed .

I need A System.

cybil do yours actually put their stuff away, and return the wire baskets.

my kids are a bit young yet, 5,2 and 5 months lol.
but dp is a nightmare. he'll take clothes upstiars, leave them on the bed, find them when he coems to bed and put them on top of a cupboard and then use them from there!

I use folding crates, which in theory flatpack once we've all put our stuff away. Every once in a while I penetrate the darkest recesses of DH's end of the wardrobe and lovingly tip 3 half-full crates onto the floor so I can do some more laundry. Sigh.

Why do you need the baskets though? Wouldn't just folding them up on a work surface and taking them upstairs work just as well, if not better?

If I had wire baskets I'd just leave the clothes in there and soon there would be no clothes in peoples' drawers.

Stuff 'on surfaces' is what I am avoiding at all costs. The baskets get emptied once a week. And if anyone says 'Muuuum! Wheres' my black socks?' I shout 'IN YOUR FRIGGIN BASKET'

PLUS I lurve wire baskets , in any form

LOL. Those baskets would just provide another surface for the crap to accumulate on. And you know that crap expands to fill the space provided

I have the baskets, just lacking a utility room and tumble drier - wondered why I wasn't sleeping better at night.

oooh, i am sooo jealous that you have a utility room to put these in. if i had one of those i would then be jealous of your baskets.

I read a book called cut the clutter and from that bought a very similar idea 3 years ago...

I can report that futility room is heaving but kids rooms are nice and empty
