Can't really believe I am writing this BUT mil coming for Christmas and she is a clean freak definitely a touch of ocd, but anyway going to clean carpets (2 dogs and 2 girls = messy cream carpets!) Thinking of renting a Rug Doctor, can anyone recommend? Or should I steer clear? Will need to do stairs and 5 rooms...........Also anyone know if there is any special offers on or discounts at the mo?? Thanks (I feel like a 1950's housewife - ho hum)

LOVE the rugdoctor. Have done mine twice with it now, and it makes it look like new.

It really is so much better than I expected - it got black hair dye out of my bedroom carpet!!!

We got ours from Johnsons Dry Cleaners on a saturday on a 24hr hire - they dont open on a sunday, so you get it til monday at no extra charge.

£19.99 for the detergent though..... but sooooo worth it. We do ours every 3-4 mnths.

Rug Dr is fab.

If you hire it from morrisons and get the weekend package the detergent is included. Its about £36 I think but well worth it IMO

I'm having the same dilemma - should I hire a Rug Doctor or pay an expensive truck mounted carpet cleaning firm?

Pros of the truck mounted thingy are that I go out for the day and they do all the work

PLus apparently it's more effective, and leaves almost no chemical residue as it uses gallons of high pressure hot water. Have crawling DS2 so worried about rug chemicals all over him.

But costs quite a lot more than Rug Doctor.

Anyone done both and got any comparisons?

DH loves the rug dr. he likes to send us all out for the whole weekend twice a year and he does all the carpets.
