...to try this myself on a reproduction solid wood table with fold down flaps. There's an ugly, dark stain all over, plus varnish that was unevenly applied over some sort of nice hardwood with a brownish red natural colour. The wood is fine grained. Should I sandpaper it all off or should I use some sort of chemical to take it off? I have a shed to work in so fumes are not a problem.
