Am I still combustible?

I will start this with a disclaimer that YES I know I'm very stupid!

I filled up (or attempted to) a petrol can yesterday. I was holding it in mid air and when I put the fuel nozzle in and pressed start, the petrol spurted up and sprayed all over me . I have obviously showered but what about my coat? Would the petrol have evaporated yet? Also the car seats smell of petrol.

This is the kind of thing I would normally ask my dad in a helpless voice, knowing he won't ridicule me. But as he is away, I am resorting to MN.

(I can't ask DH as he is even more stupid than me and is in the doghouse so I can't admit to doing something silly for 'loss of face' reasons!)

Can you wash the coat with soap to dissolve the fuel?
Ditto the seat.

Seriously I wouldn't be going near naked flames with any residual petrol on my coat or car.

Yikes!

But don't feel stupid. I fueled my car last week and the petrol hose had a tiny hole and sprayed the side of my car (I made the garage clean the bloody thing because there was no way I was driving along with a trail of petrol on the back of my car around bonfire night FFS! )
