Cotton chenille rug - can I wash it?

I have a cotton chenille rug from Habitat. The care label says dry clean only, but really, what will happen if I wash it? And if so, what wash cycle?

i washed one (think was also habitat) was fine, I hung outside to dry. is only in girls playhouse tho so maybe not much help!

as long as it doesn't turn into an absolute disaster, I'll do it!
