Quick and slightly urgent question re duvets... cutting them up?!?!?!

I have a child size duvet and I can't seem to find bedding that fits it- the width is fine, but it's a bit too long. I have bought some fabric to extend the length of the covers, but then I though... would it just be easier to trim the duvet?! Does anyone know what's inside them and what will happen if I cut it open? Can I just sew it up on my machine?

Pardon my ignorance!

If it's a standard duvet, it just has wadding inside.

You can cut them then just sew a line along the cut edge on the machine.

I have made cushions and a footmuff from old duvets and also 2 small duvets out of one big one.

I cut a standard duvet in half for my dd cot bed. It helps if you sew 2 lines a cm or so apart first and then cut inbetween-saves mess!

Good luck
