After spending years trying to remove the vile stench from DH's running shirts (I know, but he genuinely doesn't care if they're washed or not), I happened upon a solution entirely by accident.

I stopped using fabric softener. The sweaty pong has disappeared, overnight, from even the worst culprits.

Felt I must share that with the world.

if they are that synthetic stuff then yep that is the best way.

You can also put a teaspoon of bicarb in the fabric conditioner bit instead - it deodorises.

They are all made of that wicking polyestery stuff, yes. I just wish they'd suggest this on the washing label.
