Smelly tiffany lamp - any ideas?

I have a beautiful little bluebell-shaped tiffany lamp which I've had for years. Since last winter it's been emitting a smell once it warms up which I can't stand and I have to turn it off. DH can't smell it. I'm pg, but I think I smelled it before I was pg and just blamed in on DH's cheesy slippers.

It's a kind of musty/fag-endy smell. Hard to describe, but a visitor once told me he could smell it too. I took the shade off and washed it in warm soapy water this summer but it's made no difference.

I'm really not being able to use it now the evenings are dark again.

Any ideas/tips?

Get an electrician to check it -- bulb sockets can emit horrid smells if they are a bit old and degrading.

and if it is that, it can easily be replaced.

No advice, just admiration for the ponciest thread title in a long time

agree Dorothea I had a degrading bulb socket thought something had died in my house.

Hmmm, sounds very plausible. It's 9 years old I think. Thanks for that.

Where does one acquire a new bulb socket from?

From a decrepit-looking little old-skool appliance repair shop somewhere in a not very posh part of town
