Does my dishwasher need salt and rinse aid if I am using three in one tablets?

i've had my beloved dishwasher for two months and just changed the filter now and again. Now all my dishes are suddenly coming out far from clean even though filter is clear!
I thought the three in one tablets were a substitute for salt and rinse aid - am I wrong?

i find i still have to use salt as well. Never used any sort of rinse aid.

If you live in a hard water area you need separate salt and rinse aid, I think.

It depends how hard your water is - 3in1 tablets are fine for soft water areas, but not tough enough to stand up to hard water.
