I have a half drum that just can't keep up. I inherited it and am going to move next month (everything crossed) planning to leave the old one here and get a shiney new thing. Need one that can cope with a toddler (currently have a few baked beans and a pair of plastic tweezers in mine) Are there any that toddlers can't fiddle with? The amount of times I've had to restart mine because the little minx has turned it off mid cycle..

No, I hate my washing machine because it is broken. I do love the washing machines at the landrette though

I heart my indesit moon. We have three dc and it takes all the muck out. Also a half hr cycle for our clothes if just need a freshen up.

Well, I don't love my washing machine. It just helps me do a boring but necessary bit of housework.

I have recently bought an LG direct drive washing machine. The direct drive bit just refers to the sort of motor it has and I must say it is very quiet when it spins. I'm really pleased with it, mainly because I now use a variety of programmes on it instead of just always using the same one. It has a 7KG load capacity, so slightly bigger than our previous machines. It does have a lock so you can prevent your DC from switching it off. I think most machines have these now.

You will get lots of people replying to say only buy Bosch, but our last machine was Bosch and it was a bit average IMO.

I don't love mine because I have just arrived home from sports day to find the damn thing has conked out

I have a Bosch - it has a child lock and a timer so you can start it in the night or when you are out

Love mine - it's from the range that Miele make for John Lewis and came with a 10 year guarantee. Big drum, v sturdy, does fab delicate handwash and very easy to use and understand. It also has a soak option so you can have your most grubby stuff sit in saok for 30 mins during the cycle and it does wonders for stains without using chemicals.

Love it. Pricey but totally worth it.

I have a Miele too, it's great. It is expensive but it's so robust I think I'll have it for years. My last washing machine was by Hoover - very tinny, I don't recommend it at all.

We have the same LG as MissAnneElk. Does a good job, very flexible. And much quieter that the Bosch it replaced.

I have got the same one as Wilbur. It is brilliant. Love the quickwash function and it has a very efficient spin.

Just looked at the cost of Miele washing machines - I nearly passed out I have never before brought a washing machine but never imagined you could spend over a grand on one.

Mine isn't one of the £grand ones, £800 iirc, but yes the top of the range ones are astounding. I think they must gather the laundry and hang it out afterwards as well.

In a holiday house that we rent out, we have the standard Hotpoint and it is the biggest pile of crap. Random temperatures, powder doesn't all go to the machine from the drawer, tiny drum and it makes me weep with frustration every time I use it. We've had it repaired twice for £80 a time and it's only 4 yrs old. A few more repairs and it will have cost not far off the Miele .

i have a miele too, it is the best £1,300 i ever spent.

I love mine. I have a Zanussi. It is 11 years old and has never needed fixing. I have 4 DC so it is going at least twice a day every single day! The reason I bought it is because my mum had one and hers is still going strong. Prob 13 years or more. Highly recommended.
