DIY oil burner?

I bought some fruit tea last week because it was a bargain price . It tastes vile but smelt lovely when it was brewing so I wondered if I could put a bag in some water and make some kind of burner to make the smell last a bit longer. I got rid of my oil burner years ago and don't really want to buy a new one but thought there might be some ingenious way of making my own!!!

Any suggestions?

Put a bag in some warm water in a warm place - on top of a radiator, maybe? Doubt it'll work but I know what you mean about the gorgeous smell and disappointing taste with some fruit teas.

Heating won't be on for another month but will give it a go when I do finally cave in!

I had visions of dropping my caffeine habit in favour of lovely, healthy fruit teas - it should say on the box that they're not very nice!!!

Have you tried adding a wee drop honey to the drinks? Some of them really improve (and honey is ever so good for you...) though others still taste like wet paper.

I'm in soggy sunny, south Wales and it's more because I'm tight rather than brave that the heating is not on!!! It's really cold this evening but I've just put another layer on so will try and tough it out until November!!!

I will try honey with the bags but I don't hold out much hope!!!

Just had a thought about making oil; you could try putting lots of the nice smelling tea into enough vegetable/olive/sunflower/whatever to cover it, and heating over a very low heat for a couple of hours; a friend does this to make basil oil, or mint-flavoured oil etc, but he uses fresh herbs rather than dried.

There's only DH and I in the house tonight, so the heating's off.
