How can I clean a rough stone fire hearth

I have a very soiled rough cut stone fireplace hearth which we inherited in April. Has anybody got any tips as to how I can get this looking reasonable please?

Try a solution of warm water and household bleach, a natural fiber brush, but be gentle and do a tester spot.
