Please tell me how you clean your floors

Mine are never clean no matter how hard I try (which isn't very). We will shortly be moving to a rented house with wooden floors throughout. DS2 is about to start crawling so no doubt will find every spot I miss.

Broom or hoover? I've tried both in our kitchen but neither seem to work properly.

Mop with hot water or one of those squirty contraptions?

What are the best cleaning products for wood?

Also, how often do you sweep or mop it!

I have a cleaner who hoovers then mops the floors once a week. In between I just sweep and mop. I use a flat head mop with a fabricy cover that removes for washing.

Obviously the debris under the table sometimes requires hands and knees .

No shoes in house.

Hoover floor then run over it with ecloth mop. No need for chemicals - but I do often use the dettox floor cleaner which I squirt across floor and mop. This has benefit of drying quickly on the floor.

I have 3 rooms with tiles downstairs and takes 10 mins to do the lot if you do it on a regular basis. I often have a quick hoover and mop down after dinner.

Sorry - noticed wood - method have a lovely wood floor wash - again - you squirt it on and mop up. But just use very hot water with well rung out ecloth mop head.

stardrops is really good for killing alot of tummy bug type problems that you may find on the floor and ibcol floral disinfectant

I use window cleaner and also good ol dishwashing liquid (just a drop on the wet mop) on my sealed wood floors. And no shoes in the house. I mop about twice a week because we have a cat and large family, hoover every day.

i wash on my hands and knees every month or so. cleaner does mop once a week but doesn't get them nearly as clean.

hoover every day . That is clearly where I am going wrong.

They sell microfibre cloth mops in Sainsburys. Presumably they are the same as an ecloth mop.

May have to invest.

Main problem is DS1 (3.5) seems to get all his food on the floor. Rice, peas couscous - not floor friendly food. And DS2 has just started solids so things are unlikely to improve.

we have lino tiles in our kitchen/dining area - I hoover most days and have just invested in some floor wipes for giving everything a once-over (each week, I guess?!)

A deck scrubbing brush is good when you want to give it a really good seeing to without ruining your knees.

If the floor isn't too bad I use a string headed mop with either stardrops or diluted vinegar with a few drops of essential oil if my brother's dogs are visiting.

I sweep probably about twice a week (although i know i should do more) . We have laminate in the dining room and hallway and tiles in the kitchen.

To wash them i used to use a vileda mop thing that's meant to pick up the dirt too (it doesn't) but then i fancied a change and bought one of those vileda sponge squeezey mops. I have to say that the sponge is crap at cleaning the floors because it leaves imprints of the sponge behind on the floor and doesn't bring up the floor to a shine like the mop did.

I also use some floor cleaning fluid, the name of which escapes me now.

Oh and i bought some floor wipes to use in my bathroom, which bring the floor up lovely!
