Cherrywood table looking a bit 'faded'. Could it be due to Mr Sheen?

Hello, please could someone advise what to use to make my table look nice again? I use spray can furniture polish on it but it appears to be making it look dryer, not better! There is a bleached patch in the middle.

Any ideas?

no idea - but the instuctions with ours were not to use furniture polish on it.

Try giving it a good wipe with vinegar then rosewater and glycerine.

oh dear - well will stop using Mr sheen.

GO - Where do I get rosewater and glycerine from? John lewis?

The baking section at Tesco. Glycerine is about 70p (it is the same size as food colouring and just beside it) and the rose water is near by.
Mix the two together and polish your table with it then buff with a cloth. Wood comes up beautifully and there is no build up.

You can try it on another piece of furniture first or the table leg.

Ok so I have the Glycerine but no rose water - can I use an alternative? Essential oils?

I've been cleaning for 34 years and just found the best polish I've ever used. I use a duster dampened with water to dust everything and only polish wooden furniture now and again. This is from Tesco and called Wood Silk. Mustard coloured can with beehive shaped top. No silicone in it. They apparently affect the finish eventually. This is ike using an oil. Lovely glossy sheen that feeds furniture. Contains beeswax and nutrient oils. It's got me polsishing wood I haven't polished for years. Beautiful finish.

We use that one. It is good. Don't do much dusting in our house though .

I dust upstairs one week then downstairs the next. We've had six houses from all sorts of periods. I found that the modern house (1990s) needed least dusting. Suppose because very well insulated. This house (Godawful 1970 house) has a very draughty living room and the dust is terrible in there. New extension hardly any dust.

I only ever use polish about twice a year. Method do a lovely one made from almond oil I think. The rest of the time I damp dust followed by a good rub with a dry muslin. I live in a very dusty draughty house with open fires.
