Carpet fluff

Any idea how I can remove (what appears to be) carpet fluff from the velcro of DD's school shoes?

Wet your finger and brush against the pile of the velcro (seriously) if you do this with a rubber glove on it will all come off. Alternative you can do it with a damp cotton cloth.
