Funny taste in my new kettle

The water boiled in my kettle tastes horrid, I'm loathe to get another as it's brand new & a wedding present. Are there any clever MN solutions floating about? Has anyone lost the will enough to even bother reading this thread?!

i recently had to buy a new kettle - the instructions said to boil and discard 2 kettles of water, i did this but found the water still tasted funny.

in the end i put a bit of white vinegar in with the water and boiled the kettle, then boiled and chucked a couple more kettles of plain water and this seemed to do the trick.

vinegar is my answer to everything - i get through loads of the stuff!

Brilliant, thanks ceres. I've just brought loads of vinegar too! Tonight it shall be added to my washing machine, kettle, floor mopping water & anything else I can think of!
