this may be tedious beyond belief but what am I looking for in a new iron?

not one of those big-ass steam generators; a normal iron

my very average iron has finally conked

My wishlist so far consists of 'long flex'

Bosch TDA8337GB Sensixx Comfort Power
Philips GC4610 Azur
Tefal GV8360 Turbo Pro Express

Which best buys

  • first is about £45
  • second is about £35
  • last is one of those fancy ones, £270

Couldn't raise the enthusiasm to read what is so fantastic about them

oh really will write down on bit of paper and take to shops

cannot be tossed with online shopping am sick of being at work and missing parcels

can't see spending £270 on an iron. I could pay someone else to do my ironing for about a year for that!

I need a new one too but I'm just going to buy the next one up from the cheapest one from Argos!

I always think the cheapest really is going to be sh*te, but the next one up will be reasonable!

I've tried having super duper irons and they go wrong just as quickly as any other.

I end up just using it on a really basic setting anyway but using ironing spray containing silicone which is like magic! It really does make it quicker to iron and smoother! Probably bad for the environment though like most things!

I just went to currys - got that philips azur one because I stood in the shop and got confused

it felt heavy though and I am a bit of a wimp

maybe lifting it will kill me

however it does have an Extra Long Flex
