Washing powder recommendations

Hello GH ladies, just wondered if you could recommend good washing powders to
a) remove toddler stains and make whites white
b) remove toddler stains and keep colours bright.

Eco would be great, but I don't mind as long as they work.

Thanks everyone

PS where does the term 'fly' come from?

I use Ecover and don't have any problems with it. Having said that none of us have many clothes, so things tend to just get washed/worn/washed/worn, so don't sit for weeks at a time in cupboards!

I always wash whites completely separately, and I use Persil for these.

Ariel is the only one I have found which gets everything spotless. Its not v eco although it works at low temps so that helps.I love the smell of persil but find it itchy.Lidls own is v good aswell and it is the one non bio that I have found does remove stains fairly well.

Marking my place as I have the muckiest kids ever born.

dd just put on a tshirt washed last week in Ecover, and I have to say, it did smell a bit funky.

Unfortunately it has also bought dd2 out in an all over itchy rash, so I guess it is back to Persil non bio (the only one so far that doesn't seem to make them itchy, smells ok and doesn't take the skin off my hands).

I try to be eco - honest!

I use bio-d washing powder as I'm allergic to perfume and it's unperfumed. Simply does now do a perfume free one but I found it didn't work well in my machine - it just left clumps! In the absence of cash for a new miele machine which is what I NEED I've stayed with my bio-d, which I buy in bulk, usually from ethical superstore.

I add ecover bleach to the white wash.

All our clothes are clean but they are not "blue clean" as we don't have any fluorescent brightners.
