purpleduck · 27/08/2009 18:49

weirdo

TheBolter · 27/08/2009 18:52

Good God.

And I thought I was weird starting my Christmas shopping .

Fortunately my oven doesn't need cleaning, so I don't have to trivialise myself with such nonsense.

heronsfly · 27/08/2009 19:08

Are we talking about the people that charge £40/50 and leave oven like new?
Does anyone know how they do it?,someone on here a few years ago recommended turning oven on as high as it would go,and opening all door and windows asbeing the only way to clean an electric oven,I tried that, and the smoke and smell was so bad I live with a dirty oven now days

PitysSake · 27/08/2009 19:09

Going to mum's

Not entirely sure if I have mentioned that to her yet.....

suwoo · 27/08/2009 19:12

Had mine done last week, tis gorgeous. The three hours he spent doing it playrd havoc with my topless breastfeeding though

suwoo · 27/08/2009 19:13

Oh and he cleaned all of the writing off the dials so we can't see the temperature etc..... which is useful.

Feenie · 27/08/2009 19:15

To look at it from another point of view.....what a f-ing HIDEOUS job that must be. I actually can't think of anything I would rather do less.

The author Bernice Rubens reckoned she just moved house/flat when the oven needed cleaning, because it was less hassle!

FourArms · 27/08/2009 20:30

I find ammonia, or oven pride (which I'm fairly sure is the same stuff!) is fab for the racks, but I never do the bottom and sides well enough. Once when I'd got it really clean I put a massive baking tray in the bottom, which I just dishwash occasionally. I also dishwash all other cooker bits weekly or so. However, I don't do many roasts or spitty fat things (like roast potatoes), so mine never gets all that bad.

JRocks · 27/08/2009 20:32

DP did ours last Sunday while I had a lie in, am hoping he'll do it next time too
