Can anyone recommend an electric steamer?

That's it really. I'll mainly be using it to cook vegetables and fish- the choice seems to be baffling!!

You don;t need one. Go to a Chinese shop and buy a bamboo one to fit over pan of boiling water. Costs nowt and looks nicer. Mine is in tatters and at the moment I just use a colander over a pan.

Might try the colander tomorrow- do you put a lid on it? think I liked the idea of an electric one so I can do fish, potatoes and veg.

Don't bother, we just use a tiered metal one on the hob. The base unit has boiling water in it and you just put whatever you want in the upper pans. Easy-peasy

I put the lid of the saucepan I am steaming over on top of colander.

Bamboo ones have tiers anyway.

seriously, with all great intentions - they are a waste of money, do u eat fish 3 or 4 times a week? They also stink the house out when cooking fish.
I gave mine away to Oxfam - and I use a saucepan of water and a colander.

Thanks all - I am a bit guilty of buying gadgets!!
