We've stuck corner cushions onto the edge of the hearth with double-sided tape as per the instructions (not sure what hearth is made out of, some black man-made material), the corner cushions fell off immediately, but the sticky tape will not come off!!! I've tried scrubbing, soaking, lighter fuel, but it just won't come off. What else can I try?

Did the nail polish remover have acetone in it...might be more effective?

You can buy sticky stuff remover but i think WD40 gets sicky marks off too.

Tortoise · 08/08/2009 09:56

Ooops i mean Sticky marks.

nickelbabe · 08/08/2009 09:56

you need to be really gentle with the (acetone based) nail varnish remover: wipe it in circles and it'll come off.
make sure your cotton wool is really really wet.
it might take a while though....

really mayonaise, i used it to remove stickers that my little monster had stuck all over the floor - i was doubtful but it worked!

coveredinsnot · 08/08/2009 11:04

I've tried the mayo and it's worked a bit, perhaps a second application will help!!! My living room now smells of mayo though. Yuk.

There is another product called Zoff, that we used to use to get plaster/adhesive dressing residue off. Don't know if you can still get it though.

lighter fuel works really well and most newsagents sell it.

ZacharyQuack · 08/08/2009 11:19

Eucalyptus oil

Hassled · 08/08/2009 11:21

Lakeland do a Sticky Stuff Remover. It is AMAZING.

coveredinsnot · 08/08/2009 13:44

I've tried lighter fuel! didn't do anything. I'll try to get hold of the Lakeland stuff... Thanks!
