desperately seeking not too expensive wardrobe for Ds's oddly shaped room

it mustn't be too high as the roof slopes and has to fit between the skylight and window. Don't want it to be too big as am worried it'll dwarf the room. Any suggestions please of where to start - have looked at M&S, Next, Thuka......have seen an ok one in ikea online but not sure how good it is in real lfe....

What's the maximum height/width it needs to be?

height really no taller than 150cm. Ideally I'd like a sort of half sized wardrobe but not sure if they exist!

You need to look at kids' furniture websites - off the top of my head, Aspace and I think Next Directory have a low one.
We have the same problem of sloping roofs in three of our bedrooms - think our max height is 170cm, whereas most full-sized wardrobes are at least 200cm.

I found a site yesterday with a triple width one - can't remember the name but will try and find out.

I got one from World of Pine. It's a triple childs robe with a hanging rail, drawers in the middle and then a shelf bit.

I found www.maisonhome.com which has children's wardrobes but I think the smallest is 165cm, and they're quite expensive.

Nursery furniture would do as well, they are usually smaller and shallower than standard wardrobes.

DS1 is also is a loft room and we have just bought the Ikea Trofast wardrobe which fits perfectly next to the chimney breast and doesn't intrude into the room at all.

It's the one on the left, it has 2 separate compartments and you can buy a door or a set of 4 drawers to go in it.

It's this one - shame you aren't in Oxfordshire or Berkshire

We have one of these and we have fitted rails (had to be cut down/drilled by dh) to the two larger sections. We have one pull out drawer for the two larger sections, and two pull out drawers for the smaller one - plus shelves resting on top. Works really well for both young dc's clothes at moment (though could be converted to toy storage at later date. think it will be fine for ds's wardrobe for a while).

It is great and sturdy and kids can climb on it too.

Saw some nice antique-y small wardrobes on ebay though...

I may have the IKEA one - our DCs rooms are in the eaves, and they're smaller than 150cm high with shelves and/or rail.

They were in the house when we moved in, but I'm sure the seller said they were IKEA. If they are, I can tell you that they've been fab. We've had them for 7 years, and they're still in great nick. I'm too full after a big curry to go and measure them, but if you'd like me to do it tomorrow, I'll be happy to.

Could you get something built in? It might cost more but at least it makes maximum use of the space.

So, for a boy, go to www.next.co.uk and search for the Opus Module Robe; it's designed to go underneath a high sleeper so is quite small.

Also, www.thekidswindow.co.uk have a Saplings wardrobe, and a low robe by Thuka - might be worth searching the sites selling high sleepers.
I'm getting obsessive now so I'll go to bed.
