I saw some cleaning product specifically for cleaning stainless steel however it was about £4 and I am sure one of you can suggest a cheaper method? Any ideas?

I use window cleaner on all my stainless steel. Sink, cooker, hobs, extraction fan, my kettle and toaster set.........nice and smear free

sunflower oil

I know it sounds stupid, but try it just on a small patch first

First hot water and fairy liquid, cuts through all the grease. Then a wipe over with window cleaner.
If you have a lot of stainless steel then it's worth getting an e-cloth because they don't smear.

Baby wipes work too.

Oil and baby oil briliant with a E cloth all getting rid of smears.

I use Flash kitchen spray, the dry with tea towel to prevent streaks.
You don't need an expensive cleaner. Baby oil will get rid of any streaks too.
