Bugger. Help! Washing stinks of white spirit.

Put white spirit on some jeans as they had splashes of fence stainer on....it didnt work, so flung them in the washer with rest of washing. Now it all STINKS. Washed it all again, still smells dreadful. Used a load of fabric conditioner too.
How can I rescue it all? Any advice v v welcome!

I was told that vinegar might help.

Have just put the washer on empty but with bleach in to try and be rid of the smell...then will wash the clothes again.
Any other ideas???

White vinegar is defo the way to go. I had a jar of white spirit spilled on a basket of clean washing, I washed it all three times and the smell was still there before I did some digging on the web. I bought a bottle of white vinegar and washed the whole lot again sorted!!
