Moths! Help before they eat my home......

I seem to have quite a few little moths around the curtains in the front room. There is always between 3 and 6. They are less than a centimeter long, so only small ones. Now I have noticed them upstairs. How do I get rid of them?

You either need cedarwood, lavender, or something chemical. Suggest you have a look at Lakelands range of sachets to hang in wardrobes and you can get cedar rings to go on the curtain rings which make the moths feel sick and they bugger off.

Fear not though, not all moths eat cloth - apparently.

Dont seem to have holes in curtains yet so might not be the munching type.

Is what you are describing the modern verison of moth balls??! Will check it out.

My Mum recommends putting an envelope filled with cloves in the wardrobe (or wherever) to deter the buggers them.

Ours are a nightmare and I'm sure are munching the carpet. Have had Rentokil in once already a few years ago and yet THEY ARE BACK. The little buggers.

We bought these funny strip things which apparently give off moth pheremones and lure them to a sticky death. We have caught HUNDREDS (I'm not kidding) of the little buggers like this and while there are still a few fluttering around, there are not nearly as many.

Lavender oil sprinkled liberally around is supposed to help (apparently it puts them off laying eggs... which I think are the munchers, not the moths themselves.....)

I have the same problem! Am formulating a battle plan... This article in the Telegraph a while back has some useful expert opinions. I loathe the little fluttery buggers.

my friend gave up and had to pay for a specialist to come and demoth her house. She is replacing her eaten away carpets with synthetic ones!

She was told infestations are on the increase as one of the chemicals that killed them successfully is not available to buy over the counter anymmore.

Nothing has worked in our house, have had them for past 3 years. The bastards hide under beds, behind sofas etc.

I am now an expert on moth hunting. But can't afford to get steam cleaner in all over house, but sense this may the only way to see the buggers off.

Just hoover everywhere. Like mad.

Thanks all. So my house will be hoovered spotless and smell of cloves and lavender! Not so bad!

And it will be decorated with attractive little sticky strips fully of dead moths (very damien hirst...). Perhaps you can make features of them, display on plinths etc....
