Have been reading through old threads about steam cleaners and carpet cleaners - help!

Soem say the Vax is pants, manhy disagree.

My steam cleaner is broken so need to replace but tbh. I think a carpet cleaner might be better as that is what I'd mostly use the steamer for.

If there were such a thing as a carpet cleaner that doubled up as a steam cleaner for snaitising stuff like the fridge/cleaning windows that would be great...

So, which do I buy or hire?

The priority here is ultra stained dining room carpet - beige. (not my choice).

Don't know about steam cleaners but we have a George, which is a Henry that washes, and it pains me to say it but it's a bit crap.

Well it hasn't improved our ultra-stained beige carpet anyway.

How do steam cleaners work on carpets? I understand them on cookers, hard surfaces - but on a carpet where does the dirt actually go?
