Making my own Roman Blinds

I have the fabric, I have a kit from e-bay which promises to be everything else I need (corded headrail, rods, tape, base bar)..I've been out and bought fabric scissors, tailors chalk, matching thread and I already had a sewing machine. I've even found some instructions online.

So, I think I have everything...excpet the experience... Any tips?

I've made a few successfully. Only trouble I had was with one very big one, where the finished blind was quite heavy - I'd attached it to the heading with velcro so that I could get it off easily for cleaning, but it kept coming off, so ended up having to fix it on.

But if you go slowly and measure carefully you'll be fine!

Pretreat the fabric with spray starch and press. Repeat. This helps make the roman blind look crisp and also helps repel dirt and dust.

Good luck. It is actually v easy.

I'm starting off with what I think could be a fairly simple one. Only 60cms wide and 140cm drop. The fabric I've bought is also already lined so I just need to do hems rather than a whole lining...

If this goes well, I'm going to attempt some larer ones for the kitchen

Will get myself some spray starch - fab tip Swedes. Thanks
