I should be at work now, but just finishing putting shopping away and curtain lining

Well done Tort, it is FUN to make cakes and verygood value lunchbox wise. Even being able to stuff a piece of cake into their hands wards off afterschool demands for icecream too..saves lots.

I have this fantastic cake book called Magimix cake making from charity shop (don't actually have a Magimix but have an electric handbeater). All the recipes require just putting ingredients in bowl and beating for a little bit. No skill otherwise. I have made three cakes in the last few days - a record.

TPF, Freud, that well-known chinese philosopher said, all we need is LOVE and WORK. I think Wallye (sp?)was very profound on the subject too.

Right, off to work
Sympathy Scatty.

Tortoise · 08/06/2009 13:51

Hi again.

Impressed with baking Tort and swan. I'd love to do more baking, but the kids always want to join in and sometimes I don't have the patience for that lol.

Back from work/nursery/school. DS survived his first day back, all his friends hugged him lol.

Starbear · 08/06/2009 16:01

Tea here will be fish, pots & veg. It turns out to be the best Monday dish as I can steam the lot.

swanriver · 08/06/2009 17:06

Scatty I am in agreement with you about the interfering fingers. Usually have no patience, especially with the lining of cake tins but packet mixes are excellent to do pretend baking with kids even if rather tasting and £. Then I felt more able to tackle real thing with them.

Having a nice afternoon.
Done

ds1 has been playing electronic keyboard for last hour going through playlist and adding bits

TheMadHouse · 08/06/2009 18:21

Epi Yes DH did find another job, but he would have done anything TBH, just to bring in some cash and thankfully, we had a little savings to cover things for the months he wasnt in work - although we are now in debt and will never get that amount of savings ever again. I am ever so sorry for you and DH - Do you both have a car?

Scatty I agree with cake mix, I have some in the cuboard for emergency children involved baking. Although I will post you a throw it all in fairy cake mix later

Swan I have a magimix would be interested in the sucesful receipes

Groucy Boris get back away from my friend, take it easy lady.

Starbear Sounds like a really interesting if not very responsible job to me.

Well I am officailly blind as a bat - massive loss of vision in left eye - one whole dioptide (sp), so new specs are on order. Now officailly also in more debt

Boys were as good as gold for mum in the park

I am also going to start on some new medication in addition to my normal AD's, they act in conjunction with them to see if we can lift my spirits a little.

Tortoise · 08/06/2009 18:28

Most of my recipes are throw it all in and blend type cakes!
Was rather proud and when my DC told a friend that my cakes tasted better than the ones she bought.
Not enough money to buy oats so they are on the list for tomorrow.
Also all mine are at school so i can now bake in peace.

Chicken in wraps for tea. Quick and easy!
Cake for pudding.

grouchyoscar · 08/06/2009 19:12

Mad Boris has slunk off, thanks

Done all the chores for the day and got DH's Dad's Day pressy from Ed, hope he likes it.

LBB Well done on not smoking. I gave up nearly 4 years ago now. I have had moments when i think hmm i could do with a fag! But as i don't have any or have anyone nearby who smokes it passes without any problem.

littleboyblue · 08/06/2009 19:53

Dp is finishing his box and then giving up too. He has had a few out by the balcony since he's been home, but I haven't wanted one. Patches must work!

Evening All,
epimum The reason I asked about where you live is that we only have the 1 car. I use a trolley and think of it as getting fit and Eco-friendly. I think, if you say your just thinking of the environment instead, it will stop people feeling sorry for you. It may or may not be helpful

Starbear · 08/06/2009 20:20

everyone-else Hi!

A busy day here. My homestart lady came this morning which I was very glad about as Dd was being really challenging and I was feeling a bit low and had already been very grumopy shouty mummy before we even got to school! DD4 seems to have REALLY taken to her, and couldnt wait for her to get here! It was nice just having someone else here to chat to today actually, and I did manage to get most of the washing mountain sorted whilst she played with dd. Yay for homestart!

Also done today:
Home blessing : dusted, hoovered, tidied, emptied bins
Thorough S&S bathrooms inc washing floors
Thorough hoover of lounge including moving furniture( that was before I checked online and though we were going to be in the lounge this week lol)
Stripped dd's beds and washed bedding, remade beds
sorted coats in hallway
wiped down kitchen cupbaords and woodwork (once I found out what zone we were actually in lol)
Ordered blackout blind for littlies room
payed orange bill and set up direct debit
posted card to my sister

Feeling a bit more on top of things now so that is good.littlies down and all seems quiet tonight...think the late night giggles are catching up on them!DD's seem to be adjusting to their new sleeping arrangements so that is good, and I am loving having my room back!

Tomorrows to dos:
Clean kitchen worktops and windowsills
Clean kitchen windows
Thorough clean of our en-suite
