I've just taken down a couple of cashmere jumpers that I had hanging up to dry on my indoor pulley and noticed one little gold moth on one and four of the feckers hanging out on the other.

These are the cloth-eating ones aren't they? I have noticed a few about the place the last few weeks.

No holes that I can see but it's the larvae isn't it? What do I do? Re-wash? I'm sure I read something about freezing

Will normal fly spray do for the adult ones? We only have a carpet in one room. Will I have to treat that?

Are all natural fabrics at risk or just wool?

Vacuum them to remove the larvae. Spray the cupboard with insecticide - then install lavender or cedar wood to prevent recurrence. Also thin your wardrobe, they like crowded and warm and loathe cold. Normal fly spray won't do I'm afraid - you do need to vacuum first and launder everything.

Don't worry, we had them, treated once, never came back.

They don't like man made fabrics but will go for wool, and variants of wool.

We just had them too. Took lazier approach than whomoved and went straight for cedar stuff. But yes, remove everything, wash out wardrobe, launder clothes, reinstall with cedar balls etc. I just hate ironing

We use the Colibri sachets. They are v good. And we now have cedar coathangers (they are bloody expensive though - I don't advise this!)

I put my jumpers in the freezer last night as I had some vague fear that I'd wake up in the morning and an arm would be gone (must remember to take them out).

The wardrobe could do with a good cull anyway.

That's hopeful that they haven't come back. I did some digging in the archives yesterday and I'm dreading finding the "nest"...

Is the idea that you shoo them away using cedar etc and into the lovely little wooden house outside? How humane!

Cedar/sandalwood/lavender are all nice smelling things though at least
