Removing blood from wool carpet

Poor DD had a bleeding nose the other night and has dripped all over the place. What's the best way to remove it from 80% wool carpet please?

Wash it with cold water to remove as much as you can. Biological washing powders will break down blood but don't use hot water because the enzymes won't work and the blood will cook.
