Dishwasher Problem - I think I've put too much salt in it.

Any ideas on how to remove some of the salt from a dishwasher?

I think I may have overfilled it... washed dishes are coming out with a salty smell and metal items are showing some rusting!

Its really hard to overfill the salt - once the reservoir is full, you would not be able to put the lid on, and any excess would rinse away in the first wash.

Could it be that you need more rinse aid?

Have you screwed the lid of the salt reservoir on properly? My DH filled ours and it wasn't on right and the dishes were covered in salty streaks.

As lighshines says, it's not easy to over fill as it just spills out if over full.

I think that is it... the salt cover was a bit loose and the low-salt light is now back on again. So if the low-salt light is right, then it has gone through all the salt very quickly due to the cover not being on tight enough.

Will try refilling it again and making sure the cap is on as tight as possible.

Spot on answer Wish I had checked here earlier . Have run the dishwasher empty half a dozen times but no better . Still salty. Thought it a bit odd as never happened before when i have topped up the salt. Hadn't screwed the top on the salt container back properly . Thanks
