Have you tried putting it on the spin setting, or any other setting for that matter.

maybe change the fuse?

gardeningmum05 · 23/05/2009 13:52

tried the spin setting, and its not the fuse because the door locked lights on
what a nightmare!!

gardeningmum05 · 23/05/2009 13:56

The door will bev locked becaue it's full of water.. so you need to find out how to drain the water, though I don't know what to suggest to do that

gardeningmum05 · 23/05/2009 13:58

my sons just worked out its only done 3650 washes the last 5 years, what a waste of money

Can you see any water in the machine?

gardeningmum05 · 23/05/2009 14:18

Turn the power off - remove the plug.

If you disconnect the outlet pipe, you may be able to position it out of the backdoor, such that the end of the outlet pipe is lower than the washing machine. This will then have a syphoning effect and with luck drain off water.
Note: A lot of water could come out when lowing the outlet pipe, so cover flooring with towels.

nannynick · 23/05/2009 14:21

Oh dear, too late with my draining suggestion. Also you have now damaged the door, door seal and probably some other parts - so a repair may not be viable.

gardeningmum05 · 23/05/2009 14:22

thankyou nanny, too late prised the door and the english channel poured out! kids thought it was very exciting
didnt realise how much water there was in it!
floors nice and clean though, my cups always half full

Bum I'm too late to tell you that it will have a catch somewhere to release the door (maybe round the back, or in the filter flap, but put a bucket under the door first

You have done well out of a hotpoint. The door fell off my last hotpoint machine 3 times in 5 years !!

Buy a bosch, siemens (what I've got this time), or spend loads on a Miele, which is guaranteed for 20 years.

nannynick · 23/05/2009 14:24

For future reference, lots of Washing machine repair tips can be found at UKWhiteGoods Forum.
Remember the golden rule: Electricity and Water do not mix... so UNPLUG the machine!
