Just spilt a load of melted butter over my jeans - will it come off in the wash or do I need to do something else first?! (Or will it stain forever???!!!!)

Wash should do it.

I always find rubbing stains with washing up liquid before bunging them in the wash gets loads of stains out.

Queenoftheharpies · 21/05/2009 17:13

Put kitchen roll over the stain and then iron it with a warm iron maybe? then washing up liquid and washing machine.

I have some spray called de-solv-it that you put on before putting the item in the wash, claims to work on all kinds of things.

Vanish?

nannyL · 21/05/2009 21:38

i was about to say squirt with fairy liqiuid and rub it in then wash as usual and it will all be fine

southeastastra · 21/05/2009 21:41

don't put washing up liquid in the washing machine! it'll get too foamy

just rinse it off with really hot water and soap under the tap

probably too late now though

nannyL · 21/05/2009 23:42

i havent yet had a problem with a small squirt directly on stain

southeastastra · 22/05/2009 14:08

ok i stand corrected

spikemomma · 22/05/2009 21:41

Ah yeah, but imagine it.... brilliant. Well, in someone elses kichen of course.

whyme2 · 22/05/2009 21:45

Rub Swarfega on dry then wash normally, it should all come out.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/05/2009 21:46

Another vote for swarfega.

KnickKnack · 22/05/2009 21:47

rub on a little bit of washing up liquid...afterall it gets the grease off dishes

really does work.

EachPeachPearMum · 22/05/2009 22:20

iron it between sheets of brown paper (or newspaper if they're dark jeans) will melt the butter out

PerfectPrefect · 22/05/2009 22:22

washing up liquid is designed to remove fats and oils. More so that washin powder.

Pre-treat with washing up liquid, rinse excess out and sling in the wash,.

OllieWollieWoo · 23/05/2009 14:26

Ta Da! Washing up liquid worked a treat! Thank you!
