DD has to wear certain clothes for her class play.

She has a problem with buttons. All I can find in the right colour are trousers with 2 functional buttons. If they were decorative only I would just cut them off.

Any ideas? The trousers have drawstings but they aren't elasticated so useless really.

Help!

TIA.

would velcro closing help? I once sewed some onto a pair of trousers that were too small with the button done up but ok otherwise

FabulousBakerGirl · 14/05/2009 09:55

I thought of that but there was no velcro in the shop.

I have some iron web stuff but don't know how to use it.

Have wondered about just cutting the button off but if they then don't fit, or she doens't like them I can't take them back. I can't show her them with the buttons on as she then won't wear them even if I took the buttons off.

Could you have a word with the teacher? If it's only for a while would double side selloptape tape help or a safety pin, ribbon ties, popper (take off something else if you have to) Hope you find a solution - best wishes.

Safety pin sounds like a plan actually but who knows whether they are allowed to get that close. They aren't allowed to touch the kids.

Actually, I might have some press studs. I can guess how to sew them on but what do I do about the button holes?

would iron on tape cover them? or would it be ok if you sewed them closed or sewed a fabric patch over them on both sides?

FabulousBakerGirl · 14/05/2009 10:06

I am so thick.

I could sew them closed and then the press studs on top?

No you're not !!!!

Should work - hope it wont take up lots of time for you.

I have sewn up the button holes. Can't find the press studs but have got some velcro type stuff which I think will work.

Thanks for your help.
