curtains for a floor-to-ceiling window

I live in a building with floor to ceiling windows and venetian blinds (all the flats have to have them). But I want to add a curtain something like a blackout type of affair to block out the sun coming in at 5am and to make it more cosy (also has resin floors so the bedroom feels quite cold without curtains.

I don't have much money so does anyone know somewhere (does IKEA do this sort of stuff?) where I can get cheap, plain curtains (you know, just on a simple pole) with a deep drop?

Thanks

I'd write and ask your local MP. they are bound to be able to recommend something. I'm not sure it would be in your price range - can you not claim on your expense account?

Can you 'make' them (no sewing involved)? When I had this size windows I hung lengths of fabric without joining them, so had what appeared to be six single curtains. Looked fab, honest!
Ikea do great fabric, and the poles and clips so you don't even need to sew the material, just fold and hook it up.
And really cheap too.

Ikea's curtains have a very long drop and a iron-on webbing to shorten to required length.

I would suggest buying a pair of these (usually unlined) and buying seperate blackout lining fabric, or just heavy-weight lining fabric depending on how much light you want to shut out.

(sorry was supposed to be funny - hope it didnt come across as facetious)

OhYouBadKitten I laughed!

It's funny, I've just moved back from Singapore to London to this scandal.

And thanks, I think the Ikea ones will do for a 9 foot by 9 foot window. Cheap n all!

Get your black out fabric from Dunelm Mill, cheap....I am now wondering, do you have a Dunelm near you?
