I appear to have spilt red wine down my dress last night It's a cream dress, not expensive but I don't want it ruined. It's onlt a small stain, but right on the front. How shall I wash it??

sprinkle salt on it and a bit of cold water (make a kind of paste) leave it and then scrub.
Repeat as necessary.
(this works if you do it on a fresh red wine stain....might not on a day old one, but worth a try.)

I think you need to soak it in some salty water. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've heard that for after the stain has dried. Or get a cloth that is soaked in salt water and gently rub it.

My dh has got red wine out of our carpet by mixing vanish and washing up liquid and a small amount of warm water into a paste. It was a huge stain and it totally disappeared.

Sprinkle salt and rub in - easy as that. Like Bucharest said, it does need to be fresh & wet stain though

It's miraculous, I tell ya

i know salt is miraculous on wet red wine stains but failing that take into to cleaners and let them work it out!

The stain devil specifically for red wine is the only way I've managed to get red wine stains out. Mix the solution up in a small bowl and leave the stained part to soak in it for a while, then wash as normal.

Should have added - it'll go blue when first immersed in the solution, but have faith!
