OP posts:
dylsmum1998 · 07/05/2009 14:30

afternoon all, just back from placement having lunch then i need to

go to library
unload washer
reload washer
collect prescriptions for me and dd
collect ds from school
xp is collecting dd today so one less thing to do
dinner
then ds off to ju-jitsu, thank god lectures have finished for this year cos that was such a rush!

tort that looks good, i will get away with it while dd is still in my room, will look mad in a couple of years and i finally move! (its for me not dc , they sleep lovely but i keep waking up to the sun shining on my face (not that i'd normally complain but is living me tired very early!)

gibbberish · 07/05/2009 14:49

It's official. The kids view me simply as a taxi service

So please tell me AIBU?? Story as follows.

Got plenty to keep me busy this aft as have been out most of the morning with the weekly shop then my sis and bil dropped in for lunch. So just getting round to doing everything else I have to do today and dd1 phones me up from town. Has gone there with friend who caught bus down from Crieff to meet her. They have discovered that the bus back is not until ten to five. So what is the next option? Oh yes, I am to just drop everything, drive into the town to pick them both up, drive 45 minutes up to Crieff to drop friend off and drive 45 minutes back again. Because dd1 doesn't want to hang around any longer. AIBU to refuse to do this? dd1 is NOT happy with me and I am officially the worst mum on the planet, yet again.

gibbberish · 07/05/2009 14:52

Ok after that little rant...

Done:

Made bed
Dressed
Tidied kitchen and lounge
Emptied and reloaded d/w
Weekly shop
Lunch
Put away shop
Diced 11 chicken fillets and frozen in individual portions
Tidied (again)
Cleaned kitchen tops
Shined sink

To do:

Hoover downstairs and give floors a quick wipe
Swish and swipe bathrooms
Hoover upstairs
Dust upstairs
Washing
Ironing (if time)
Put clothes away
Dinner
Collapse

TheMadHouse · 07/05/2009 15:04

Gib I do not think you are being unreasonable at all. I would present them with the facts, an invoice for your time and deisel costs and ask them if they want to pay you you will do it!!!

I have just parcelled up 11 items I sold on ebay. 2 more to do once they pay.

I will also be listing this buggy with the accsory pack - we only used it once on holiday!!!!

Now I need to drop Mum home and go to the post office

gibbberish · 07/05/2009 15:19

Thanks tmh

I do an awful lot of ferrying the girls about (as most parents) and I really don't mind it. It's just when it is EXPECTED that it winds me up - especially when it's not just a quick trip up the road! She prob won't speak to me all evening now

Ok after that little rant...

Done:

Made bed
Dressed
Tidied kitchen and lounge
Emptied and reloaded d/w
Weekly shop
Lunch
Put away shop
Diced 11 chicken fillets and frozen in individual portions

gibbberish · 07/05/2009 15:21

lol didnt mean to put in the bit about the rant again - copy and paste error!

gibbberish · 07/05/2009 16:03

Oooh on a roll now!

Done:

Made bed
Dressed
Tidied kitchen and lounge
Emptied and reloaded d/w
Weekly shop
Lunch
Put away shop
Diced 11 chicken fillets and frozen in individual portions
Tidied (again)
Cleaned kitchen tops
Shined sink
Hoover downstairs and give floors a quick wipe
Washing
Swish and swipe bathrooms
Hoover upstairs
Dust upstairs
Clean windows
Put clothes away
Empty d/w (again)

That's it for the day. Off to finish the little bit of ironing there is before starting dinner.

scattyspice · 07/05/2009 16:04

Hi all.

gibber - I am not looking forward to the taxi years lol!

Chloe - well done with the painting, i am always impressed by people who decorate - I am so hopeless at it lol.

Nice walk home from school in the sunshine, DC had ice creams .

I am doing laundry.

To do:
buy bread
homework

swanriver · 07/05/2009 16:13

I'm really working on neutralizing my emotions TMH finding like you the lows too loooow and the highs too high

Yesterday AS USUAL for Wednesday was all too much. Dh not back till 7.00 which a disaster on Beavers night. Final straw was realising that I had to fit 5 kids into car which only takes four. Won't bore with details.

The moral is YOU CAN'T PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME.

Today
Early morning finished dd's homework a blooming project on Germany fgs for a 6/7 year old as well as all the rest
Lunchbox
Ds2 to dentist for checkup - perfect teeth!
Finished ds2's project on Germany taking care not to duplicate any info!
Dressed Up
Went to School to meet Ofsted Inspector and work in Library. Good, I didn't put my foot in it I hope.
Went to Lunch with other ladies in gastropup VERY GOOD. did not make lunch or tidy house
Had LOVELY LUNCH OUT complaining about homework and projects. Feel a thousand times better.
Inspirational chat with friend about her breadmaking course and various other courses available locally. Determined to make more ME time.
Picked up kids, who are allowed to watch telly because it's Thursday EXCELLENT
Supper will be tuna, baked potatoes and veg.
EASY

So just need to tidy house (dreadful but bearable without homework or other stresses)
finish ironing
violin practice for dd
force ds2 to do his homework at 5.00 on dot.

swanriver · 07/05/2009 16:19

Today the other inspirational thing that happened was to meet two happy really motivated mums yesterday and today whose houses were a mess, but essentially they were superorganized and focused on what was important to them.

One had mountains of toys and clutter, but a lovely calm atmosphere. She needed to declutter but she still had lots to give her family.
Another works almost fulltime as volunteer in school hs a brilliant diary system so she is never in wrong place at wrong time, has five kids all whom seem really happy, but she says her house is a tip!

So that made me think about values and priorities and self-judging.

Off now, ds1 wants long awaited computer time.

swan wish I could be more like those ladies!

prof Thanks. It's such a relief to hear that I am not being mean. At the back of my mind I knew she was being unreasonable but still felt guilty. I know it's daft. Why does parenthood bring on such huge guilt trips over virtually everything? Or is that just me?

Going to start dinner now. Chicken in lemon and ginger sauce with noodles. Am starving! Will finish ironing whilst dinner is cooking.

Hello Bianca Good to see you.

We had pizza and homemade chips for tea. My Child tax credits hadn't gone into the bank so had £7 for electric and food!! Should be in the bank tomorrow morning.

galen · 07/05/2009 18:26

Evening all
gib totally agree you were not unreasonable - a big expectation of DD! I'm sure she'll be talking to you again by the next time she needs alift somewhere!
mad swan yes finding a nice even steady emotional state on this parenting rollercoaster would be nice - something I must work oon I feel!
everyone-else Hi!

Well no disasters here so far today....theres still time though LOL
Lovely and sunny here too! Also treated DC to ice creams on the way home
All bathed, DS2 very grumpy all afternoon so has already gone to bed and is fast asleep!

DD4 napped this afternoopn (not like her!) but is brighter now
Finally got most of washing mountain done!
No energy for floors tonight - will move to tomorrow!
Feel better for getting some stuff done at least today - feels as if I ma gradually taking back some control in what has felt like a crazy overwhelming week!

Need to send DS1 out to water veg .....
Need to sort lunchboxes...
other than that going to chill and get early night.
Hoping to fight off sore throat that is brewing, and get rid of awful headach I've had for days on end!

See you all tomorrow ladies - nearly made it too Friday YAY

FabulousBakerGirl · 07/05/2009 18:28

Busy busy day.

Just put dishwasher on for the 4th time today. It is always on a lot when I have been busy in the kitchen. Made sausage rolls and muffins this morning and herb fritters for our dinner later.

Sent a parcel.
Did the ironing.

swanriver · 07/05/2009 18:44

FabBakingGirl lol!
Just baked some cakes with dd, immediately turned her into sunnygirl

House really is a mess (I keep repeating this, but it is true) don't want to delude myself, but what is lovely about today is that it doesn't matter.
I've felt there's been mental space to be responsive to kids, dtwns are in the sandpit making a dinosaur island, ds is listening to music. We've had tea and avoided any meltdowns despite muddle and not quite sitting down together.
Dcs have been a bit more obedient than usual (nods to TPT) due to firmness rather than ranting in my tones.

Just hope DH is in a good mood and doesn't trip over anything.

Now they are filling up the "moat".
And I need to hide some mess in dishwasher.

Galen you sound like you are doing a fantastic job sorry about headache, it is so lovely when littlies are tucked up safe and sound isn't it. Well done ds1 for watering for you!

swanriver · 07/05/2009 18:47

Anyway Gibbberish, when we were young, there were no mobile phones to summon our parents with, or possibly even cars to pick us up with. Next time she will check timetable.

scattyspice · 07/05/2009 18:56

Yay swan - loving the new chilled perspective .

Also loving the new 50s prof (I hope your lipstick is matching your pinny dear ). I'm seeing a no-nonsense Nigella Lawson .

Hurrah for galen - nearly there now! When is dh expected back?

ShannaraTiger · 07/05/2009 19:21

Evening all

The flat is upside down!! - We have a living room containing cooker, kitchen cupboard, fridge and freezer. They are coming back to finish the kitchen floor tomorrow when it is dry, level and ready to be tiled!
Forgot to get bottle out for Ds, should make bedtime even more stressful than usual!

Will be back later or tomorrow with a decent post. Need to try and wash up in the bathroom sink
BBL

galen · 07/05/2009 19:45

swan Yes you're sounding super chilled! A great attitude, and I'm sure its rubbing off on your family Good for you
tiger Gosh sounds a nightmre. Hope you get it all back in order soon!
scatty Dh is back Monday evening, but wont be in a good state I fear - He is flying back from Barbados Sunday night, then driving straight from Gatwick to work (in Sheffield!) so I cant imagine how exhusted he'll be by Mon eve.Trouble is being a teacher getting time off outside of "holidays" isnt that easy....

Well my DC are being strangely co operative tonight !
Ds1 has watered the veg patch for me (did have to bargain £1.00 and extra PC time LOL)
And DD's 1 and 2 have done a truly amazing job of tidying there bedroom and putting ther washing away ( and in good humour with minimal arguing!)
Long may it last !

galen · 07/05/2009 20:21

Oh goody. have just joined facebook
Not quite sure what I'm doing on it yet though (technical incompetant emoticon!) and so far have only 1 friend - my sister LOL
Really not sure mobile broadband was a good idea after all LOL
Right must move away from PC and do something useful now LOL
