Good morning

OP posts:
dylsmum1998 · 05/05/2009 17:05

hello all
am such a crap flyer at the mo but i have CHAOS reigning in my flat and need to grab a hold of it again. am going to try and do a minimal routine each day plus the mission to try and get back into a routine. have finished all my assignments for this academic year, just have studying for my exam left to do.
have been in uni today, since getting back i have managed to

tidy living room
tidy kitchen
wash up
get dinner on
sort dry washing
unload washer

i need to
hoover
wash up dinner stuff
ironing
dust
mission

Galen sorry you are feeling so down at the mo, agree with all other posters who have said to aim low with housework then feel good about what you have managed, plus if any extras get done then its a bonus.

tort are you doing the stuffed bear party for dd (i saw some of the kits in the works the other day, dont know if you managed to source all the ones you needed if you stil doing that)

Tortoise · 05/05/2009 17:25

Hi ladies
I have no idea what happened, I posted a huge message yesterday and it is nowhere to be seen totally possible I pressed the delete button rather than the send one.

galen sorry you are having a hard time at the moment, I hope you get some extra support. You are such a fantastic Mummy, I am sure this is a blip.

Mad you are sounding a bit brighter, sorry you have had such a hard time, even though things seem to be healing well physically it looks like it may take a little longer for the emotional side to catch up.

Big Hi to GO TPT Scatty Swan Tort Jas Shannara and anyone else I have missed.

Have cleaned my oven today, and done some cake stuff, need to do more may be get chance if DH does the boy's bath.

back later - 2 weeks till my new pooter arrives - cant wait to be back with you all on a more regular basis.

galen · 05/05/2009 19:24

You ladies are the best Have a very un-MN group hug from me LOL
Thanks so much for your lovely replies.
mad it was thinking of your positive comments that gave me the courage to ring homestart actually!I am still a bit that I did it. I NEVER do things like that, or ask for help etc...I'm always a coper LOL

Well I do feel brighter now - cautious about what tomorrow will bring, but brighter for now!
despite all I do think I've achieved a lot today - will share to cheer myself up
Done:
Sorted out useless car and got new battery fitted - all on my own with 6 DC in tow YAY!
Printed out bday invitations for DD2
dinner - casserole - surprisingly well eaten despite requests for repeat visist to MD's LOL
DC bathed (skipped this last night!) so at least they'll be clean for school!
Lunches sorted
Clothes outfor tomorrow
Been to GP (waste of time but at least I tried!)
Rang lovely homestart lady! (she rang back and I have a volunteer coming on Mon...exciting!)
Bought disposable nappies and wipes 9usually use washable!)
Bought yet another emergency(cheapo)DVD for littlies!
very good thing Rang my sister and arranged to go and stay with her for the weekend at end of May ON MY OWN WITH NO CHILDREN (sorry that bit was important!) I'm going to get my hircut and we're going girlie (window as I'm broke) shopping!
Rang Mum and have arranged for her and dad to come up on saturday - kids love seeing them and will break up the weekend so also a good thing

so I think thats good. Lots will be left un done ....floors need mopping, mountain of clean washing growing on my bedroom floor...etc..but I can live with that for now

So going to chill now I think...
will go to bed early (although have to wait up for DS1 to get back from fencing at 10 LOL)and hope tomorrow turns out to be a better day.
Sorry I've not individuals - will dobatter next week i'm sure.

scattyspice · 05/05/2009 20:02

Yay to the CHILDFREE sister weekend and grandparent visit at the weekend. . Thats what family is for!

Wolfcub · 05/05/2009 20:34

Evening to all my beautiful flysisters (yes i'm mushy)

galen I second what mad says if you don't get the help fast enough for your needs you need to keep pestering them (teaches doctor Galen to suck eggs). In my experience it's often the quality and experience of the professional you speak to that determines what help you get and how fast.

It may well be worth asking for an urgent referral to the community mental health team. In my 3rd official bout of big D I was referred to them as a sort of stop gap between doctor and hospital. I found talking to the specialist social worker really helpful and I got to see her weekly/fortnightly long before they managed to fit me in at the hospital.

Good for you for booking a weekend with your sister, when we look after our families we often forget to look after ourselves and it is soooooo important for our mental health.

done
bed made
quick tidy living room
ds taken to granny's
went to bank at lunch
ds pcked up from granny's
tea made for all
washing up done
sainsbury's delivery put away

just collapsed on sofa!

TheMadHouse · 05/05/2009 20:45

Evening all (in a mad police type voice)

I am feeling a little brighter today, I will put it down to the extra meds and the kick start my mum gave me.

Wolf I agree on the quality of the professional getting you the right type of help. The care I have received has been second to non, but my experiance does not seem to be the norm unfortunatly

Three cheers for galen, not only on getting through the day, but making "me time" plans and plans for the weekend. I to am a coper and a perfectionist, I often look all organised on the surface, but like a swan all the work goes on below the surface

Groucy Glad Boris has taken the hint and pissed off for a while.

On that point DS2 was "star of the day" at preschool (out of 52) for his ryming. I asked him to ryme kiss tonight and piss was one of his responses - needless to say me and DH were killing ourselfs trying not to laugh and explain the inappropriateness of the word

I have had a really productive day, but that is down to mum breaking up lots of fights between the boys and giving me time to get on.

Other dones

Cleaned the sofa in conservatory
Cleaned dinning table and polished it
Polished all round downstairs
scrubbed the trip traps - grotty mess they were
Cleaned the dinning chairs
all dish cloths washed
Planted tomoato plants
Got clothes out for tomorrow
did dinner
took mum home
polished all stainless in kitchen

To do - carried over to tomorrow

Put ironiong away
Straighten drawers
Clean under sink
Hoover and mop floor
Sort Utility area
Clean blinds
Wash outside of cat litter tray

TheMadHouse · 05/05/2009 20:50

I also wanted to share with you one of my though cards:

FREEDOM IS MY DIVINE RIGHT

I am free to think wonderful thoughts
I move beyond past limitations in to freedom
I am now becoming all I am created to be

We are all capable of much more than we think we are once we give ourselves the right to be great

gibbberish · 05/05/2009 20:51

shannara I have epilepsy too - controlled atm fortunately. But just wanted to sympathise. Know how horrible it is after a turn. Hope you are feeling a bit better now x

wolf I like the idea of being a flysister

Well, am SO glad I got back into flying. This is the first week in a long time that my house is in absolute ship-shape condition after my two days at work. Wednesday usually consists of me trying to sort out the chaos that results from me not being here for two days but tomorrow I will have VERY little to do except for general hoovering and dusting and the kitchen missions. Am so pleased, and much calmer and happier for it.

Even my washing and ironing is up to date Flying REALLY works. And anyone who has the slightest doubt should come and have a nosey round my house

So a big thank you to all my flysisters. I couldn't do it without you.

gibbberish · 05/05/2009 20:55

Oh x post tmh.

That is a really lovely and inspirational thought. I am going to cut and paste it and keep it.

Am really glad you are feeling brighter again tmh. You deserve all the support you get, because you support so many others. What goes around comes around (naff saying but very true).

Jas · 05/05/2009 20:59

I think this thread should be moved to philosophy/spirituality

Lovely thought, TMH I too am going to save that one.

TheMadHouse · 05/05/2009 21:02

Gib My DH bought me a pack of cards just before I went into hospital - Power Thought Cards" and they are great. I keep them on the kitchen table (where my laptop currently lives) adn dip in when I need a lift.

They say that affirmations are like planting a seed in the ground. It takes some time to go from seed to full grown plant. I love the analagy

laurasmiles · 05/05/2009 21:03

I don't know what's more inspiring TMH, your "Done" cleaning list, your last post or the fact that you are managing both after a difficult time. Thank you. Eeven when life is on an even keel it can be so helpful to see such positivity.

I'm just checking in for the day. Galen, Homestart is a great idea, so glad they responded well. At least this is one more day down and done!!!

I'm feeling more in control of the housework now, but I'm wondering about the impact on the children. At the moment, I seem to be saying "In a minute darling, I just have to finish this....." rather a lot. Still, the plus side is there is room on the floor or table to play now!! I think the key for me might be to try and get up earlier. I get wired very late at night and often can't sleep until 3am and so I'm always shattered in the morning and SLOW! Need to work on breaking this. Then perhaps I'll get things out of the way earlier and have more free time to be fun mummy.

TheMadHouse · 05/05/2009 21:07

Laura I can help on the children thing - when I first started flying I had loads to do. Once I got used to my 15 min timer thing. I made time for the children, plus they are great helpers or at least they think they are. Both have a cleaning kit, feather duster, cloth and small sweeping brush.

Plus we have a tidy up song, where a treat is given if we all manage to clean up before it is finnished - treat = tickle most of the time!!

Plus once you are on top of things I only normally spend a small amount of time on the cleaning

Tortoise · 05/05/2009 21:22

Awww i am feeling the love.

Galen Weekend away sounds great.

I have cleared one more side, wiped it down and put bits back.
Also made a yummy cake!
And listed lots more on Ebay!
