What is it like cooking in Gas Oven

Have just bought a new house and previous owners took Cooker, so need to buy a new one. Can only put in a small cooker and don't want to spend lots as will be renovating kitchen in next year or two. Have only ever had a Gas or Electric hob with an Electric Oven. Would much prefer the Gas Hob, but ovens a lot cheaper if you don't get dual (gas hob/electric oven). Can anyone tell me what it's like to cook in a gas oven?

I would love to have a gas oven again! I hate electric ovens. Ours in particular takes 3 times as long as it should to cook anything then burns the top leaving the middle raw.

Gas always seems to cook more evenly (or perhaps that's just me). You just have to remember that the top is the hottest part.

I really like gas, the grill is much hotter and heats up quicker and the oven itself is easier to regulate for the same reason.

Do you find it hard to convert recipe temperatures, like 180 degrees celsius to the gas mark?

No, I just cook everything on 6 - recipes do tell you both so it won't be too tricky

Google is your friend when it comes to converting temperatures, I absolutely adore my gas oven and wouldn't ever have electric again.

Thanks everyone - will go down to the shops and check them out. Your comments much appreciated.
