Washing Geox trainers in the washing machine?

Has any one done this and had a successful result? I can't find any advice on the net as to whether it's OK to wash them. My son peed on his trainers this week and they've dried but are a bit smelly. They're a fabric trainer and I can remove the leather insole. Do you think it would be OK on a gentle wash?

I do it all the time and they have never fallen apart. I put them in a pillowcase and tie a knot in it and then put the machine ona delicate wash.
